I am 22 years old and I attended this school in 8th grade, I had temporarily moved back to Redding with my dad after living with my mom in Southern California and the whole entire staff treated me terrible, I’ll give 2 examples, while we were doing P.E, I was confused on the rules of the exercise and one of the teachers told me “ I’m not sure how they taught you in Southern California but you aren’t doing anything right” and then when it was my first week there I wasn’t aware of the rules about phones during break and I had my phone out and a teacher came and snatched my phone out of my hands and refused to speak to me when I asked what I did wrong. I’m only writing this because I actually went to this school and even for a short time it was my worst experience in school.

Not a great school. Found out my child had a learning disability while attending. A (Individual Education Plan) had to be written up, which the staff didn't follow, nor reach goals and passed my child into the next grade where they were not thriving and struggling with studies and became overwhelmed. This made it difficult to acclamate into regular curriculums in public school when transferred, because my child was so behind in their grade level. Staff seem not motivated to extend extra help for special needs students.

We love our school! My older kiddo attended K-8, and my younger kiddo is currently in 6th so we're "lifers," as they say. Our family has experienced tremendous hardship and loss and our kids trudged right through it, supported and loved by their friends and teachers. I CANNOT say enough about the teachers! They are smart, data-driven, creative, kind, and they LOVE their jobs. They pour their hearts and souls into our school and the kids and it shows. In our time there (11 years so far), we are on our 3rd administrator and each one has been unique and had their own special skill sets. This school has a long waiting list for a reason -- it's not just a school, it's a community of families focused on fostering life-long learners and bright, curious kids. "Houses" and the recent huge improvements to the sports program really round out the offerings at Chrysalis.

We have had an amazing experience with this school. There is little to no homework so that kids can be kids. My kids have participated in several school sports teams. My oldest went on to high school and has been successful in honors courses. The science driven program really helps students develop strong critical thinking skills that help them in their daily life.

In addition to the wonderful classroom work, we have really enjoyed the numerous field trips and semiannual camping trips. These excursions are a wonderful way to get into nature and connect to the school community.

Not very impressed...but when we took a tour we fell in love what appreared to be a good school.

The down side to the school is the lack of respect to faculty and to other students. There is a lot of favoritism of staff children and friends of staff.

I love this school. I am a parent that has volunteered hours, I have had my kids in the classroom and in the home school program. I get along with everyone. I have not had problems that couldn't be worked out.

I could not be happier with our child's education. After having 3 go through public schools, Chrysalis could not be a better fit for our youngest.

This school caters to the faculties children and their friends. Students with learning differences are not appropriately treated and often are singled out as a problem. Many of the reviews were written by the faculty and I would not trust them.

Chrysalis Charter School is a "teacher driven" school so decisions come from those who are affected, it's not a "top down" administration. This school is unique with small class sizes, small group instruction and teachers that genuinely care about their craft of teaching. These teachers have been amazing for our children and our family. They go way above and beyond ensuring students have what they need to be successful. They plan a rigorous and thoughtful curriculum to maximize students potential and meet the strengths of the student. Field studies are often held off campus to provide an "hands on" approach to support the nature and science curriculum. Two camping trips are held annually to make the school a true community with each teacher leading groups of students and their families. These trips are affordable and we would not have been to some of the places in CA had it not been for Chrysalis. My eighth grade recently graduated and was put into all honors classes in high school and I know three of her close friends had the same experience. Chrysalis has truly been a wonderful foundation to build from for our children's futures and we couldn't be happier here.

I have a young child, and middle schoolers at Chrysalis. This was our first year there. I'm extremely impressed with the younger grades (1-5). The teachers are animated, fun, creative and thorough. Their focus is not on grades, but on consistently completed work and trying one's best. They are there to challenge each student where each student is at--those with difficulties and those with gifts. There are many field adventures for life learning as well. The children are well behaved and friendly. The middle school program is good, and we will continue with it. The only downfall is that the electives are more like samplers. They are on Fridays only and fun for the kids, but if you are looking for in-depth, daily electives like choir, Spanish, wood-working, etc. then that is not available. The school does not offer sports teams, but for those interested in science, it is top notch. My 6th grader completed several dissections that I didn't get a chance to do until college, yet it is done in such a child-friendly way that the kids understand well what they are doing. My daughter is not a "science kid" yet enjoyed her classes. I love the parent involvement and support here.
