horrible, I know high school isn’t always fun for everyone but this school ruined me. It ate away at my mental health and made me feel like I was worthless and unimportant. I was involved in many activities and never got recognized for anything I did. This school favors its athletes (especially its soccer players) and it’s high achievers. As an average student I felt as if I didn’t matter and was pushed away. I was nowhere near ready for college and the guidance counselors there are a joke. I was miserable and so depressed attending this high school. Ever since I graduated I’ve never been happier, and my attitude/mental health has improved so much.

My children are able to participate in many extracurricular activities due to the small size of the school

The 3 out of 10 rating for Palmyra is unrepresentative of the Palmyra experience. Palmyra offers many things that create outstanding, college-ready students. I am a 2004 graduate of Palmyra High School who attended Susquehanna University on scholarship (leadership award for the many clubs and extracurriculars I took advantage of at PHS). I went on to become a television news producer at 6abc and I currently work in marketing at Temple University. The small school atmosphere allowed me to join many clubs and even sports that I wouldn't have been a candidate for at a larger school. Additionally, I formed strong, long-lasting relationships with my teachers because of the small class setting and individual attention. In fact, my student council advisor is invited to my wedding this spring! There is certainly room for improvement at Palmyra High School but I am so energized to see parents, teachers, community members and students coming together to achieve change. It's a very exciting time to be part of the PHS community!

As a graduate of Palmyra High School I can attest as living proof that this school does worlds for students to excel in life and their careers. I was very prepared for college and excelled there as well. I recently returned to live in Palmyra and I am excited for my children to have the same experience as me. They will excel, Palmyra is an excellent school system.

Parents, don't let simplified ratings based on test scores fool you - this is a gem of a school. With less than 100 students per graduating class, PHS offers personalized attention in all of the areas that are important for a student's academic and social-emotional well-being. Almost all students participate in extra-curricular activities such as sports and clubs, regardless of perceived talent. Students don't get "lost in the shuffle" at this warm, welcoming school, and differences are embraced. Two of my own children graduated recently and are thriving at their chosen colleges, and my daughter who is currently a freshman is having an equally good experience. PHS is a 10 in my book.

I'm a Palmyra Alumna and am really looking forward to my son having the same great high school experience that my husband and i had at PHS. Being a student at PHS will give my child the ability to be in small classes, while still offering great arts and athletics programs along with plenty of clubs to choose from!

As a former graduate and parent of Palmyra High School alumni, I can attest to the quality of education that my children received. Both went to highly ranked colleges in New England and both have earned advanced degrees from Columbia. and Drexel. In addition, 6 of my siblings attend Palmyra as did four of my nieces and nephews. All are very successful and have advanced degrees. Palmyra is a place where children can grow and thrive in an environment encouraging mutual respect between the staff and student body.

My kids love this school. The sports teams are small enough that kids can join any sport they like and the teams are good too. Who doesn't enjoy cheering on a playoff football team on a Friday night. There are lots of AP classes including AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Bio and a robotics club. Kids can do anything they like at this wonderful school.

PHS is a unique community oriented high school that has a tremendous amount of history, tradition and pride. Students are pushed to be there best in academics, athletics and the arts by a very passionate and hard working staff. Palmyra High School offers something for everyone and is an extremely positive learning environment. Because of the small size of the high school students are able to get individual attention from their teachers to help push them towards success. Students are able to participate in a number of different clubs and extracurricular activities that they might not be able to at another larger school. Because of the opportunities at PHS students are well prepared for their next steps after high school whether that is college, the military or the work force.

My two sons are having a wonderful academic and social experience at Palmyra High School. They love their teachers and enjoy small classes. The superintendent is first rate and I appreciate all the individual attention my kids receive from their teachers and coaches. My senior is 8 for 8 for college acceptances and will be well prepared for college.
