My son learned how to speak English really fast as well as to read and write.

Ozona is a great school as it's the best rated elementary school in the area. Along with academics and the involvement of teachers and administration, it really makes a difference on the kids. My son is in the gifted program. We like that he's with his main classroom and has gifted services weekly; therefore he has opportunities in both environments academically and socially. He was accepted into Elisa Nelson school, but we are so happy with Ozona and the education he is receiving, we'll keep him at Ozona. The school offers so many activities and events now that things are getting back to normal. The PTA offers so much for students and families during the year. It's so nice to be able to get together again as a community and school. We love Ozona.

This is a beautiful school in a "nice" area. I thought the students were sufficiently challenged and encouraged. It is tightly embedded in a pretty, somewhat upscale local neighborhood. It is well maintained. The teachers themselves did a good job, and cared. I felt they listened when we had questions or concerns. All the kids got enough attention and monitoring. No complaint with the teachers at all. I volunteered with the struggling students and was glad they created parent opportunities to pitch in and chaperone on field trips. The general level of academic accomplishment and good behavior on the part of the students was mostly great. The primary issue I had here is that a goodly number of the local parents are unfortunately social climbers, who (albeit superficially polite to you) will treat parents and kids from different socioeconomic strata as if they have leprosy or 'something catching' (their kids sometimes share their attitude, though at that age they are mostly too young. Not always. I was horrified, for instance, to hear one girl comment meanly on the janitor's work jumpsuit, and wealthier parents do actively (I'd say brazenly) discourage their kids from developing friendships with children socioeconomically unlike themselves. So... very cliquish. Yes, it is a very good elementary school, and yes, it is a feeder school for the super-"nice" Palm Harbor Middle School and High School. But you do have to think about factors outside strictly academics. I am thinking of the old saw about judging people by the way they treat waitresses. If you buy into that saw, if you think it has any validity as a litmus test, then take the same kind of approach when deciding whether to send your child to this school or not. Is it critical for you that your children develop kindness, understanding, social perspective, recognition of value in other people that is more than wallet-deep, and broadmindedness? Or is the narrow yellow brick road of the fancy academic track enough? The stars are for the lovely teachers, academic excellence, and physical design/setting of the school.

My girls have both had ok experiences here. As a parent I saw things differently. I am disappointed that the school board does not watch this school close enough because they are not a low income school. The principal lacks leadership and the assistant principal has a weird grin in all situations bad or good. Bullying was not an issue for my girls but other parents have told me there is an issue here. Music, art and PE are not a focus. Their programs lack creativity and purpose like they are an afterthought. This school needs to be held more accountable for the high taxes we pay. We moved to this school zone to avoid paying high private education fees. PTA is unorganized and cliquey.

Up and down. Teachers are amazing. Administration half of staff kind, orger half I've experienced as hard and a lack of personable attentiveness.

My child loves school, can not wait to get there. Doing great in the class room, good grades, good teachers. There is a major problem at Ozona. There is a lot of bulling going on and the staff will not reconize it nor do anything to stop it. Therefore my child has to go to school all day with the Bullies. This is supposed to be a bully free school. My fellow parents, it's far from that. Also be aware that there are issues with the pys ed staff. They seem to not care about the children, just their stinkin blackberrys.
