As a student. This school is downright awful when it comes to bullying. The simply does NOTHING about bullying. Kids get into fights and i know lots of people, including myself that got bullied and its led to depression for lots of people. The counselors are unreliable. Administrators also choose favorites and protect specific students at any cost even if theyre the bullys.

We came to Oregon in 2017, the district was highly rated(7-9)across all schools. Our son graduated from Oregon High School in 2019 and we were happy with the education he received. Fast forward to 2022, one kid at the middle school and one at RCI, completely different experience. The district now only cares about pronouns and equity, forget the basics, they no longer matter. 8th grade history has been replaced with anti racism curriculum and bullying is slap on the hand if anything at all. There is very little discipline for bad behavior, curse words are discouraged, but no recourse for using such language or constant outbursts. All students must pass so the district can have a near 100% graduation rate. We are currently looking at other open enrollment schools or even the new charter school in Beloit.

This is a very good school with a strong staff led by quality administrators. I've lived is this community for over a decade and both of my children were well served here. I would encourage you to talk to the staff or administration to hear firsthand the care and respect they have for the children they serve. They offer a quality strings program, various clubs and a few sports, but most of all, the curriculum is rigorous and prepares students well for high school and beyond. I would encourage you to ignore some of the reviews that are critical of this school. For those of us who live and understand this community, we know who those people are, and they simply have an axe to grind. When I had issues that needed to be addressed by the administration or particular teachers, I was contacted, kept informed had a chance to meet and discuss and totally understood what would be done to address the issues. Many, many parents have had similar experiences to mine.

The district in general is pretty good, and the teachers work hard for the students. The administration is not there to help kids or community unfortunately, so if your child has any outstanding experience (good or bad) it's just you and the teachers trying to make it work.

the activities were enjoyable unless you were like me that had too many assignments that they couldn't go on any of the end of the quarter 7th grade field trips. 8th grade seems to be a lot easier for me but if you have a kid that struggles to pay attention in class they most likely won't put up with their attitude and will send them to the office. The staff isn't too great but they try to do their best academically, although helping students themselves is lacking

This is a great school. The activities, the leadership, the dedication of the teachers are all amazing. No, it's not perfect -- no school is. There are students who don't want to be there. There are some policies that don't make sense. But, overall, it couldn't have been better.
