The teachers were an amazing support system while I was going through a tough time in my life, and they still, support me now even though I don't attend OBI anymore.

After going to OBI for 3 years (2017-2020) I learned a lot, I learned a lot about myself and God. I got to become friends with people from all around the world and see different cultures. The classes were small and if I didn't understand something the teachers were always there to help.

After graduating in 1991, after spending 7 years at OBI, I was able to receive a full academic scholarship to a wonderful college. The teachers were very willing to offer one-on-one attention and loved on the students as their own. At Oneida, you aren't just a number. From athletics, to academics, Oneida was able to offer what I needed. It was a loving and safe place to go to school. My best memories are from my time there and it was a life changing place for me:-) My best advice is to ignore the negative comments. Oneida did (and probably still do) get students that are very negative or from unstable homes and are sent away to boarding school for a reason. I would take their comments with a grain of salt. Everyone I know that graduated from there has nothing but great reviews and memories.

Our daughter Nicole has continued to thrive and prosper at this school. She has been at Oneida 2 years and is excited about entering "high school" there. The curriculum and opportunities for learning job skills is tremendous!

I went to Oneida for 3 1/2 years. I graduated in '94. I was sent to OBI, because I was doing horrible in public school. It took about two weeks for me to get adjusted. After that, I loved it. I enjoyed working, & being held accountable for my work. I loved it their, I would live to go back & work their when I retire.

My overall stance, is that if you love your child, absolutely do not send them here, or to any boarding school, whatever you do. It's funny visiting their website now, after having gone to college and understanding how schools market themselves. A young child who is uprooted out of their home is not going to care one bit about sports or programs or clubs. No, a child is going to feel strange, and not really understand what is going on and why they are torn away from their normal home life. I don't remember even once considering student clubs or sports, or ever even having this advertised to me. I was more concerned with just surviving, and trying to understand my new surroundings and new structures that I was forced into.I can honestly and certainly say that my experience at oneida baptist institute absolutely had no positive impact on my life. However, it did have a significantly harmful effect on my life, which includes great psychological and physicological traume from being abused by other students, being forced into a new environment, and being treated like a slave or a criminal, at an early age.Worse, if your child is not a bad child, they will be surrounded by criminal children since the majority of children here are bad children who are here because they have committed many criminal acts or were just bad and evil children. If you love your child, do not be under any illusions that this place is going to help them grow or mature. This place is likely to cause irreparable psychological and emotional damage and even trauma, that will still effect them decades later. If they struggle socially, they are also likely to be abused by other children which will cause further harm and even be a danger to their physical wellbeing. Please, loving parents, do not send your child here. If your child is difficult, the worst thing you can do is send them away. What they need most right now is your love and security of knowing they will always have a home. I cry right now as I am reminded that I have nowhere to call home, and no one to call parents, since I am now an orphan. Please, don't let happen to your child what happened to me. Do not send your child away to boarding school, especially not here.

I have had the best experience with this school and the staff. My child is attending Oneida and has benefited greatly from the independence, she is learning that being accountable for her actions and responsible for her words are hard work, but very rewarding. The work and sport program is a fantastic skill building tool for my, otherwise, spoiled child. This school has been a blessing for me and my family.

Excellent Christian school. I attended school here in the 80's and now my daughter attends here. I disagree with most of the comments on here. There is a work program here, as well as academics and Christian education. The teachers here make $6,000.00 per year so yes they are here for a reason other than money. I believe that every child should contribute (job) to where they live. I love this school with all my heart and feel blessed to have had this experience and proud for my daughter to share this experience with me. She also loves the school and will graduate (as did I) from here.

Love the school. It is a blessing to me and my family. It has helped me much in my academics and has given me a excellent work ethic.

AS a mother I regreted sendin.g my son to OBI, that is the worst school have ever seen in my life, when a mother send child to bording school , the priority is academic, but in OBI, it is not so, they have no other way to discipline children than suspending them from class .and there is no other way to make up for those missed clases, the child ends up with Fs and Ds.I learned my lesson in a hard way, I felt bad because my son is lacking academically, OBI should not be refered to as a christian school, is a military barrack.

The school is one o the oldest, and I believe nobody can take away that glory. However, there seems to be no way to measure up the academic lapses with disciplinary actions in this community. Accommodations seems to be one way only. Because the school is not taking tuition doesn't mean children academic line has to suffer in the "working". As a parent, I like imposing work hours or any form of discipline, but IF IT IS TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE ACADEMIC STATUS, THEN IT DOES NOT WORTH IT. I will probably take this to a very high level for people to see the way "Work" is being slammed on the kids, especially the new comers who who is just learning the experience of being away from home. There is a disconnect between the teachers report and the out-of-class-work hours. My child report is 50% "F,s", and never like that in his 5th grade. He was above average, and even above grd level in many cases. I am also pulling out my child and wait for him to mature more. THIS SCHOOL IS NOT THE BEST FOR SUCH AN AGE, I WOULD ADVICE SOMETHING LIKE A NINTH OR TENTH GRADE LEVEL.
