This school is terrible. There is little to no communication between parents and staff, except when they want money from us for the countless fundraising/raffle/etc that is constantly being sponsored. THOSE papers always seem to come home. However, there are never set plans and most teaching staff (while being nice people) seem to be hamstrung by ineffectiveness either designed or otherwise. Homework is not really emphasized as something of importance, but the children certainly get zeros for it. The creativity of the students is actively stifled at an alarming pace. I'm surprised that they have not yet found a way to put all our children on drugs and just collect paychecks. Oh, wait, they are. If I could rate them negative stars I would rate them negative one bajillionteen stars. I've never been wanted at the building, if you even walk your child inside they get alarmingly hostile towards your presence unless you're buddies with the receptionist which always seems to have a crowd of closed doors around her. (Closed doors in this case being people you can't just walk through, use your noggin.) My child has had a hell of a time in Ona and she was a very good student elsewhere.

Good school for grammar, reading, and fun while learning! Ona Elementary School is extraordinary! :-)

Avoid this school at all costs. My son was a top student when he started there in the 1st grade. During his five years there he had two teachers who were good and three who shouldn't be teaching dogs to bark much less working with our kids. One spent all her time talking about how she was pregnant and she was going to "marry her boyfriend soon." Another basically discriminated against boys in favor of girls in the classroom -- several boys either transferred to another room or to another school. The principal is no better. He apparently doesn't like parents to be around and goes out of his way to make them feel unwelcome. Again, avoid this school at all costs.
