I had 2 children go to this school. The teachers at Oak Valley are fantastic. You can tell they enjoy what they do & try their best to meet the needs of each of their students. The class sizes are smaller & the building is really nice. Truely a gem among OPS

This school never takes time to listen to any of my concerns , but are quick to jump at pointing out all the things my child is " supposed" to be doing, that she is not doing. Very disappointed with this school and cannot wait to switch school to my child.

I currently have a child in 1st Grade. I've been happy with the teachers & his experience there. It's great that the classes are so small. The teachers have been really good with communication. The school building looks great too! It was just remodeled. It seems like a really good environment to learn.

This school has gone downhill since the new principle. I am not sure if its him or the staff/teachers but it used to be a amazing school. The counselor is very judgmental and is quick to jump the gun when listening to one side of the story. This school has called CPS on me because of statements my sons father said in the middle of a custody battle!! On top of it, my kids overheard 2 teachers talking about me and my parenting skills like they were back in high school their selves. They are very one sided and have made it almost embarrassing to be involved with them in anyway. I have been to the school numerous times trying to explain to them what has been going on in my sons lives and how it is affecting them and getting advise on what to do. They are very two faced and act understanding but they will be sneaking and make false statements. I would not recommend this school to anyone who may be having a difficult time in their life such as a divorce or split because this school supports mental/physical abuse and recommends that you stay with that person instead of working with the kids to help adjust.

The only concern I have with this school is the lack of communication. There has been 2 incidences where the staff has proved to be messy and unprofessional. One time, they told a state agency that my oldest child has bahavioral problems. They never told me about any issues prior from me finding out from a third party. When I confronted the allegation. All they could say was one time he was under a lot of pressure about making a decision and he started to cry. As a parent, I would have loved to be informed of that, if "behavioral issues" is what they call it. Another time where communication lacked was the method of transportation that I used to get my kids to school. Instead of coming to me with the problem, the principle called my job and tried to get me fired. I don't work for OPS but I work for a company that does contract work for them. When I asked the principle what was the problem or what liabilies could occur, she literally had no explaination. I have never been confrontational or unpleasant to any one of the the staff for them to feel like they could not communicate with me. The principle at Oak Valley has proven to me to be nothing but a gossiper and trouble maker.

This is a terrific small school! The teachers take time to know all the students personally. The teachers are very effective in helping a diverse student body achieve their potential.

I love Oak Valley! The teachers and staff are very attentive to students, and pertents. The diverse setting at Oak Valley prepares children to communicate with people from all walks of life. I will never send my children to another OPS school, no matter where I live!
