Hitchcock Elementary is one in a million! I feel so blessed that my three children have been lucky enough to attend this amazing school.Teachers meet with every child, every day, in reading and math small groups! This allows teachers to instruct students at their own level. When students are met with each day at a level which meets their needs, they make over a year’s worth of growth. My children have excelled in state and national tests because of this! Not only are the academics top notch but the warm caring learning environment speaks volumes to Hitchcock’s core values. They reach the hearts of every child. The teachers form such positive relationships with their students and with each other. It truly feels like a home away from home.I would recommend Hitchcock Elementary to anyone looking for a school where their child will feel loved and will be pushed to reach their full potential.

In 30 years in education, I have never worked with a more dedicated group of professionals. "We reach the heart before we teach the mind" is part of our school's mission, and every single staff member believes in this. Relationships come first, then academics. Teachers use data to drive their planning and instruction and then create engaging lessons that capture our students' interests. They develop STEM days, simulations, and various competitions, just to name a few, all based on grade-level standards.

This is small school with incredibly dedicated teachers. Their motto is “Small School, Big Heart.” We are a military family so this is our fourth elementary school and I am blown away constantly at the level of education my child is getting. Daily reading, writing and math; both whole class and small group lessons. Students get PE, music and art every week as well as media to learn technology skills. They also receive weekly guidance lessons from the counselor and library time. Teachers are so responsive to questions and finding the best way to help students grow. Both my children were bored at previous schools and ended up reading most of the day, here they are challenged and pushed continuously! I will be devastated when we are forced to move away.

I believe Hitchcock Elementary is the best in the Omaha area. The teachers are amazing. They are engaged with students and ensure that every student gets an opportunity to learn. The administration is equally amazing and manages the school very well. Parents get great communication and issues are timely addressed. And, family support of the school is superb. Hitchcock truly is an amazing community. What a jem! We are so lucky to get to send our children there each day knowing they will be safe and have an opportunity to learn from the best! Thank you Mrs. Hartz and your great team of teachers and staff for making that happen.

My son went here for one year then I withdrew him. At first I was happy with the pre-k program until an incident occured that made me VERY UPSET. My son had a rough day one day and as punishment the faculty thought withholding snack from a 3 yr old was appropriate. I found this to be very wrong. It is wrong to withhold food from anyone let alone a 3 yr old child.
