My daughter was on the verge of committing suicide because of this school. They are extremely unwelcoming. Do not let the other reviews fool you. The discrimination between whites and colored is real. There is hardly any colored staff in the school, in fact most are either leaving or retiring early. They do not provide any kind of support to those struggling with severe illnesses and mental health (disabilities etcétera) She was targeted by many teachers and I've sent countless emails and letters regarding them but to no avail. They will embarrass your child in front of the class for absolutely nothing. Keep in mind my daughter has an Individualized education program (which means nothing to this school in particular.) The principal of the school hides away in the office doing absolutely nothing for the school. The vice principal and "guidance" counselors do not provide any kind of support for parents and students. The staff will invalidate and dismiss your child to your face. The staff is unbelievably nonchalant. Please do not enroll your child in this school, as a single mother it is a nightmare. It came to a point where we had to lawyer-up and move houses.Unfortunately with limited space on this review I cannot further explain how disappointed I am with this school. I cannot emphasize or express this enough, please do not send your child here. As a colored single mother, I cannot stress this enough.I hope this review is helpful.if I could rate this 0 stars I would.

Im in my last year in this school and its just amazing! I transferred her when i was in 7th grade and my teachers were so nice and understanding on what i was really good at and what i needed help with, my current teachers are very understanding too. I feel safe when i enter this school and i have tons of amazing friends and the staff is so respectful of my privacy and their understanding. They understand me and my sister didn't come from the best of schools and that they barely taught us, while my sister was fast to understand i was still behind and struggling with motivation, they helped me with all my work and im so sad have to leave this school. i would recommend sending ur kids here.

My daughter went to this school and the experience was great

I use to be a student back in 7th and 8th grade (now I'm in 10th) and I got horribly bullied. It's expected to get a little made fun of here and there because it's middle school but I actually got book checked, yelled at, called names to my face and one of the girls threatened to kill me. I went to the office multiple times and they did nothing to make me feel comfortable and safe. I stayed home often because I didn't feel okay to go to school. As a matter of fact, they put me in ISS ALONG with the three girls that bullied me when I did nothing wrong. The girls got no punishment besides not being able to walk in the 8th grade graduation (which is nothing compared to what happened to me.) This experience has changed my life forever and I am so disappointed that adults and staff in Jonas Salk let that happen to me. I wish they did more to make me feel better about being there. I couldn't stand one more year there after that so I am in a much better school now. The school is very very bad and the staff and teachers DO NOT care.

My daughter started Salk last year and I have to say it has been amazing. The principals teachers and staff really do an exceptional job. Looking forward to the next 2 years.

My daughter recently started attending Jonas Salk. So far the experience has been good. The administration and PTA care a great deal about the school and the children.

I am the P.T.A. President for our school and has been an honor to be part of a great teem that works so well with each other. Our Admiration works so hard to benefit our children in the most positive way.

Jonas Salk Middle School is an excellent school. My two children have excelled and the teachers and staff have been fantastic. There are many clubs and opportunities to get involved. I would like to give some Shout Outs to some of the outstanding faculty, Principal William Rezes, Music Teacher Mrs. Hilfman, Social Studies Teacher Mr. Garrison and Ms. Reilly, Math Teachers Ms. Chin and Ms. Whitford and LAL Teachers Ms. Filosa and Ms. Jorda. They are only some of the great mentors that have made huge impacts on my childrens lives.

Salk is a wonderful middle school. From the administration, to the teachers, to everyone involved in my child's life, they are there every step of the way. I have been a part of this school, involved with the PTA for the past 2 years and with just 1 more year to go, I have to say that I am sad to leave it all behind. This school has been an amazing stepping stone in my child's life and I have to say that it has helped shape him into a bright young man, very eager to start the next chapter in his life, high school.
