Edgemere has been a fantastic educational experience for my children. Not only are they learning and growing in knowledge, but they are surrounded by warm, caring adults. The teachers and staff are so loving towards the children. There is amazing community support as others have mentioned. The after school programs are offered for no cost, there are volunteers at the school regularly, and many resources are offered to families. I love this school!

Edgemere is a delightful, welcoming little school. A friendly face greets you in the reception area. The Principal is frequently seen around the school and she's quick with a smile and warm greeting. Teaching staff is great and Mr. Colin the school coordinator is on point with communication and getting some really fantastic programs in the school for our kids. I appreciate the fact my kiddo is able to attend such a wonderful community school.

The community support for this school has been demonstrated time and again. In February 2014, a proposal was delivered to the school board to create the first community school pilot in OKC. In July, the board accepted a MOU between the district and Friends of Edgemere School. FOES has raised over $200,000.00 to provide new furniture, window treatments, landscaping and irrigation and a playground. Families are encouraged to participate at the school. Many agencies will be offering services at the school including Sunbeam Family Services, Variety Care Cininc, and OSU-OKC. A new principal, community school coordinator, and highly qualified and caring staff are eager to welcome children on Aug 4th. Staff participated in OKA+ and Payne Education Center over the summer. Arts will be a big part of our students day! The maximum number of students at Edgemere cannot exceed 225 students providing a close knit school community.

I like a lot of things about this school, it's remodeled & there are a lot of caring people that work there & volunteer there. They are pretty understaffed... the teachers need teaching assistants really badly as each teacher seems to have anywhere from 16-19 students by themselves without help. As a result of the student to teacher ratio I've also witnessed some stress behavior amongst a few of the teachers of the younger children that includes screaming @ the children in an overly mean tone & despite the fact that I know this issue has been brought to the attention of people in charge, it didn't seem to get resolved b/c even some of the substitute teachers were doing the same thing.. I think they are a bit unorganized & they could use sound proofing in the cafeteria, it's cinderblock walls & metal ceilings & tile floors & the sound level in there is deafening. Most of the teachers & staff seem to really be trying... I think they need more budget so they can get more staff & better quality substitutes. I would just like to see them treat the younger children a little kinder & have special classes for the students w/ challenges.

I really like Edgemere Elementary, and the staff that work there. It's a sweet little school with kind people who have been there for a long time. Originally I wanted my little girl to go to a nearby private school, but they didn't have a spot for her, so we ended up @ Edgemere, and at first I was skeptical about enrolling her at public school, but it was remodeled and seemed very nice & clean and organized. Since, we have grown to love it there, my little girl cries when she has to miss school and she plays school at home with her friend who also attends Edgemere. When I asked her if she she would rather transfer next year to the private school, she immediately said no and asked if I would keep her there with her friends in the school she loves. And the curriculum seems to be well organized and challenging enough to keep the kids really engaged in their learning. We love this school
