Most of the students are very rude and don't care about anything. The teachers idc but the jr high library stinks. I'm saying this from my experience here. I don't like this school at all.

My experience with special education at OPA has been horrible. The communication between general education teachers and the SPED program is awful for one thing. Another issue I have is that since students in the special education program can’t advocate for themselves, it should be expected that the SPED director and their certified SPED teachers would do so. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I had examples of these things in a previous review, but my review wasn’t posted most likely because of sensitive content? Unfortunately, administration and HR has continued to allow this program to turn into a circus leaving parents in the dark about what is really going on. If you have a special needs child, I would be extremely cautious about sending my child to this school.

This is my first year at this school, and to be honest, I liked my old one much better, people are childish and there's occasionally stupid drama, most of my peers are rude and not friendly, the curriculum is okay, and most teachers are nice but the jr high building and way too small and gets too crowded, and most the food is frozen and not good, wouldn't reccommend this school

I think this school has great ideas and great plans, but has been unprepared for the growth it has received.

I love this school. My daughter has been attending since kindergarten and she is in 7th grade now. I just wish they were a k-12 school. She has had a couple teachers I didn't care for at times but was never a major issue.

The whole experience was a nightmare. My kids begged to go back to the previous school they attended.

How amazing is this school!?!?! The teachers are wonderful. They are so good at teaching each child and helping them all succeed. The principal is great. She values every child and helps the teachers and parents to help the kids. The way the parwnts are kept in the loop on their children's education and invited ro be a paet is so cool. My wife and I are SO thankful we were able to get our children in this amazing school! !

My children go to Ogden Preparatory Academy. My oldest is in fifth grade and has attended since kindergarten. We have had so much fun watching the school develop from such a small intimate space to such a large loving family. The staff are very willing to work through or listen to any concerns that you may have about your child, weather it be personal or academic. The new library at the school has a very inviting feel much like Barnes and Noble, a little friendly coffee house with a great selection of books and friendly librarians. The diversity is strong, and the unity is great! We love our school!!!

I was first interested in Ogden Preparatory Academy because of their bilingual programs and their downtown location. I liked that it was funded like a public school, but functions like a private school. This is our 6th year at OPA, and we love the new building. The teachers, staff, and administration are all very accessible. The principal is hands-on and helps direct traffic in the parking lot after school. The librarian is superb. She makes personalized recommendations to each of the students. The teachers are diverse, many from other countries. Students are respectful and well disciplined. OPA provides a safe environment for learning. Not all parents put in their 30 hours per year, but many do, and the school is greatly enhanced by those volunteers. OPA is a Title I school, and yet they consistently score higher than other non-Title I schools. I love the RAZ Kids online reading program. I love the special activities my kids have to look forward to as 8th and 9th graders (Havasupai, Spain, etc.) I love that my kids are learning a second language and are exposed to another culture. Things to improve: parking lot drop off before school/pick up after school, school lunch, P.E.

I happen to be one of the low income families that has children attending this school. I am involved in my children's education as much as possible. I am appalled that someone would blame problems there children have on having low income families attend this school. Sometime people cannot help the situations that they are in financially. WE would sacrifice all we have for our children's education. My children have loved attending this school and we will continue to attend it. It has been the best school for our children and I would recommend it to others. The teachers are so willing to work with you and your child to help them be successful.

My children have attended the school the whole time we have lived in Utah. We are a military family and we have loved the school. I love the spanish program and their overall cirriculum. Yes they could use more after school programs, but we loved the school so much that when we moved out of Ogden onto the military base we kept them in the school. I will miss the school once we move.

Really bad attitude from staff, They should really double check the credentials of their "Special ed Teacher "

This is NOT a parent-involved school. The recommended 30 service hours per year per family to the school are not enforced. If you are an involved parent, you will most likely be put in charge of fundraisers where you will pull teeth to get other parents to help, and even then may not show up to help. The school's main funding comes from grants for low-income students. Additional funding is provided through fundraisers sponsored by the parent organization (PO). The PO is solely a fundraising organization, and parental input into school topics are non-existent. Parking at the school is extremely inadequate making pickup chaotic as well as parking some distance away to attend school events. Between inconsiderate parents and school layout, the Ogden City Police Department is consistently assisting in the dismissal process. Programs put on at the school are a major fiasco; you will need to arrive extremely early to get a seat or even enter the auditorium. If you don't get a seat you may be able to sit on the floor in one of the isles or stand against the wall. This is most likely a fire hazard and against city code. This is all a shame since the teachers and Spanish are excellent.

This is a very poor school, Title 1. OPA expanded in 2010 and has lost it's niche. We are extremely dissatisfied. We came to this school expecting more parent involvement when in acuality there is less parental involvement. Integrity is not there! There are MANY late students daily. There has never been a student telephone directory in 10 years of operating - students leave the school to go "back" to their friends.

I Love Ogden Prep. because the faculty and staff are fantastic. They are accessible, caring and knowledgeable. I love Ogden Prep. because the School Board works hard to help the school improve for the students, faculty, and parents. But Mostly, I love Ogden Prep. because my kids are happy and safe there.

I admire the hard work put forth by all the staff and love the enviornment. We are challenged and required to THINK , really think about things daily. We are also welcomed and encourage anyone interested in an excellent preparation for the future to join the OPA family.
