Teaching is excellent and safety is awesome. Emotional support for both parent and child is greatly managed. I liked how teacher reach out to parents about the concerns or suggestions.

I read a review from many years ago and felt obliged to come comment. The school has since been remodeled (around 2016) and is no longer an open concept. So, the noise level is no longer an issue. The teachers and staff are phenomenal and my boys all had amazing experiences there (2016-2023). The PTA is wonderful and provide so many fun family events throughout the year! West A is a great community to raise a family in!

My kids have loved McKee Elementary. All the teachers they have had are fantastic.

West ASD has a great curriculum and deserves 4 stars, this school, however is lacking. Firstly, the have great art, music, PE, swimming, computer and library classes but to fit this all in you have to manage a 6 day rotation with A and B weeks, very confusing especially when you start throwing in snow days. Secondly, they are very inflexible, they do not allow parents to volunteer in classrooms or the library (even with appropriate clearances), no lunches with the kids either. This really discourages parental involvement. Lastly, this in an open concept building so if your kid has difficulties concentrating, you will find yourself getting extra homework and missed "fun projects" and a teary kid to boot. The few times I have been invited to the classroom (party, PT meeting, open house) I have found the noise level near unbearable. Teachers will even admit to having to stop lessons and do other activites until the noise level subsides because they can't hear themselves speak (or think for that matter). Teachers, for the most part are amazing and make this place work.
