Amerman continues to be an amazing school for my daughters (4th, 2nd, and Kindergarten). To start, every staff member we have interacted with is focused on what is best for the students. Teachers, support staff (including special education), and principal regularly interact with parents and the school is part of the community. As a Lighthouse School, students at all grade-levels learn about the seven habits. In addition to academics, this focus on character and leadership is a consistent thread throughout the school. The principal is amazing and attentive to parent concerns. In addition, the school has an active and supportive PTA. I really can’t say enough about how fortunate we are to be part of this community. This school is a gem!

The teachers we encountered during ALPS 2017-2020 program were outstanding! The two new principals over this time were great! We liked the after school choices offered and the Amerman Olympiad team was well supported/trained by parents. They do have a weekly broadcast (with kids input) now starting 2019-2020. Thanks to a bond the Amerman building got many updates in 2019. A wonderful school.

This school had no leadership in 2015-2016 school year. I cannot speak for other years. I met with the new principal at the end of 2016 and really liked him. I think there is hope with the new change. This review is for the school year of 2015 - 2016. The first grade teacher was so demoralizing. She stood in front of her class the first week of April and said "This class has learnt nothing so far" ". My kid comes home and asks me why he hasnt learnt anything. And whose fault is it if the kids havent learnt anything? Does this teacher think she is motivating/encouraging the kids? Every teacher is different and hence each parent's experience will be varied. I still label the school and the rating low because its the school leader's responsibility to ensure that all the kids in the school get the same level of education and environment. There needs to be standards (not for the tests only) but for teachers. The first grade teacher was an extreme bully to the kid and parents. I as a parent did not like to see her in the corridor or anywhere in case she started her rant. I never heard her say one positive thing about the child through out the year. Not one. Feedback should include positive and negative. This is coming from a parent whose son never got into trouble, is introverted, got straight A's and score "High average" through out the year. Recess: Its not a playground, its a bullyground. There is really no discipline or monitoring of any valuable kind. Lunch Room: Its not a lunchroom, its a bullyroom. The folks who are supposed to keep an eye on the kids at the lunchroom do absolutely nothing. I feel for them because they are outnumbered, but its a loud room, with tons of kids and chaos. Such is the environment. If your kids is buying lunch, you can cut his already short lunch time in half. The lines are that LONG. Class Parent Volunteers: If you are a parent who can volunteer, you get brownie points with the teacher & hence your child maybe subject to a slightly better attention. Good luck to parents who cannot! Your kid will be excluded from activities, oh and dont expect your child's picture in any class activity pics.Yearbook: My kids name was grossly misspelled. Proof read anyone? Needless to say we pulled him out of the school. I would never subject my child to this school ever again. Overall it was sad and shocking state of affairs.

We love Amerman. All of the teachers our children have ever had have been caring and great. We are really going to miss our principal, Mrs. Madeja. She is the best and we wish her a very happy retirement. Our school is a better place because of her. She always put kids first!

We moved from another district and couldn't be more pleased with the principal, Mrs. Madeja, and all of the staff at Amerman. You walk into the school and you can feel the caring and commitment. The principal welcomed us and took us on a tour and all of the teachers and staff has been so kind. We are so happy to be at this great school!

I am so amazed by all of the changes in Amerman over the past few years. I am also glad that our principal, Mrs. Madeja, who was so sick, last year is better and greeting our children every day. Our school is a bright happy place and I love the update and the learning.

It's Good school but not Great, few years back it's rated as best (with rating 10), now it's coming down. I feel the students needs to be challenged more and they may need to use the Technology more. Hope they listen and bring back the old tradition and good value to community.

Principal not involved with students - most students don't even know who she is. She stays in her office most of the time. Don't ever see her helping with arrival or dismissal of students. Our experience with the teachers is great - very caring, professional and knowledgeable.

I have had the best experience with everyone in this school. I wonder if the last post is some kind of error as the new principal is a woman and she gets back to parents immediately! Love the staff and school and especially the new principal.

I am a parent of three that have went here for 15 years. Girls at Amerman are treated very well and decent. But when it comes to my son the Teachers and Staff really hit him hard. When he was in fifth grade he got down with the flu and *barfed in the trash and he had a very very high temp. My son went down to the office and complained about him barfing. Well the Teacher reported it and the fifth grade teachers are decent there. After he told the ladies they said and in quotes that "I will believe it when I see it" . So the janitor went down and checked and told the ladies at the front desk he actually barfed. The front desk people laughed in doubt and called me and I could clearly over hear them laughing. They told he barfed but he made an excuse. I said why? They hanged up. Later that day he was coming home and barfed on the bus. Everybody laughed at him. He came home and was really sad and I felt bad for him so I called the principle 7 times at different times and he wouldn't answer. That morning I left my son at home and talked to the principle. All he said was "Oh okay I will tell the staff". 5 weeks later he got the same flu and it all happened again. We are not going there.

Terrible Staff. My son and daughter complain about them everyday. How unfair and mean they are.

It is true that teachers make the school. We had amazing kindergarten year and horrible first grade. I have tried to correct the teacher situation but instead was made to be a bad parent. We will not be returning to a place were they let a teacher to be a bully. Principle is retiring so maybe new one will listen to parents concerns.

Amerman Elementary school matched my speed in early learning. I went to this school beginning in the 3rd grade when I was accepted to the ALPS program. The interesting, compassionate, and VERY active teachers helped me regain interest in a school system that was not matching my rate of learning. There is no better place to send a child, even outside of the advanced learning programs. Furthermore, the no put down zone in Amerman made me feel safe and secure when I went there (and I was not cool at all.) There was a small amount of bullying, but nothing substantial. These were my best school years by far.

In the past, I have put my kids in private schools all over the US, and thought it was the best education I could provide for my them. Amerman has surpassed everything I have seen. It is just an amazing dynamic: from classes, activities, teachers, Dr Anderson and his amazing team. My children love going to school and I don't blame them. I wish I was a kid again.

I used to go there for the Alps program after attending Winchester from K-3rd grade. I was amazed and excited for all the clubs and extra-curricular activities there were. I loved the ALPS program and learned far more than I have any other year in school.
