My daughter is in 7th grade and loves her teachers. She gets challenging, interesting assignments and a lot of support from the teachers. NRMS had a wonderful "welcome to middle school" program for the parents and another for the kids, with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. So, our experience is that North Reading Middle School has done a great job. The school does reach out to parents with offers to contribute, but many parents (including myself) are just stretched too far to the next step and to develop the same community feeling that we had in elementary school. The school facilities are older and less attractive, but in 2012 the community approved a major rebuilding program that will complete in 2014.

I can say that I am happy that my child has moved on to High School, and will not have to walk though these doors again. I agree with the previous poster that mentioned the lack of response the faculty takes towards 'bullying'. I too understand that kids will be kids, but this place is like a smaller version of Skulls.

The school is pretty awful. There is NO leadership here at this school. The school culutre is threatening and hostile for teachers. It is a level 2 school and MCAS scores are terrible. Administration does little to discipline students or lead faculty. Highly polictical. If you are a teacher, run far, far away.
