NPHS has prepared my children well for college. They are involved in activities and have thrived here!

My experience and readiness for college was great! I graduated from high school in 1976 I was proud and took extra courses. I was a straight A student and helped my classmates with their homework. I went on to Mid Plains Community College for my associates degree in Accounting with a Art minor. I’m going on to college now for my bachelors degree in Computer science. At CTU online college. NPHS was great and definitely gave me the confidence to go for what ever I wanted to do. So don’t blame the school anymore you have to apply yourself.

While the school does offer dual credit, the classes are not college level. There is a community college in the town and the school district will not create a system to allow the students to take classes directly at the college (the private school in town does). The school superintendent is out of touch with the concerns of parents and this, unfortunately, leads to apathy on the part of the community. As in any school district there are amazing teachers that teach because they love their job and the students. However, many of our teachers come to our district and teach just long enough to receive experience and then move on to better districts. There are a lot of discipline problems. Also, students on both ends of the spectrum (struggling and bright) are underserved. Your bright student will not be pushed and your struggling student will not get the help they need. There are no AP or IB classes offered.

This school has delivered on everything that it said. We are hands on parents and are working to get accepted within the school. Many teachers worked hard to ensure a smooth transition for my kids when they started in September. I have two in the high school this year and, while not perfect, they are responsive to questions and concerns. Most notably, we had teachers in the physics group, music and foreign languages who worked to make our kids part fo the community.

The High School is horrific and the latest principal is in over his head. The principals and administration all continue to receive raises, even though assessments and grades are lower than ever. I moved my children due to this fact. The school they are now attending is not what I consider a jewel but it is much better than what North Platte Public is at this time. I would recommend sending your kids to the private North Platte school or one of the smaller public schools around the area.

In general a very good school and well run by the teachers. A large problem is that education is not highly valued by a large amount of the community. Almost all of the teachers are good however the quality of students that goes to NPHS is pretty low
