My son has been at Children's Academy for four and a half years now and we couldn't be more grateful. It was so hard to find the right school for him. His previous school told us they could no longer provide him what he needed. Unfortunately, that is common in NYC. As difficult as it was to deal with, I couldn't be happier. It's incredibly hard, even in NYC, to find an appropriate school that can serve your childs needs and also be surrounded by a similar cohort. Often times the "right" school will have a class of students with varying array of developmental delays. I was actually recommended to send my son to Childrens Academy by the Director of admissions of another school that had offered us a spot. I can't thank her enough!

One think to note is that private school is not obligated to offer a student a seat year after year. As such, my son was kicked out of the school by a board member (who no longer is there). My child did not have an appropiate school placement afterwards. This was a terrible thing that happened to him and us & altered the course of all our lives. I do not think the school had the foresight to see the damage that they caused to my child and to my family. My son is safe now – and in another school setting. It took years to get here and was not without sacrifice. While he was there-- the learning and social emotional support was lacking due to employee turnover with teachers and leadership. Choose your child’s school setting wisely—not all is as it seems at Children’s Academy.

In the time that my child has attended Children's Academy his speech has improved tremendously! The teachers are caring and knowledgeable as well as transparent. The school has an open door policy and welcome any parent or outside provider to come into the school at any time. The school maintains a good open line of communication with it's families and offers support such as workshops for how to navigate opwdd as well as other resources that are out there! We are very happy with the principal of the school who is in constant contact with her teachers and families to make sure that everyone is on the same page. I would highly recommend this school!

My son has attended Children's Academy for several years. Years ago, we struggled to find a school that would fit his specific needs and were so overjoyed when we found Children's Academy. The unique model that includes a speech therapist in every classroom and high teacher-to-student ratio means that my son gets incredible personalized attention. The teachers and therapists customize the work in a way that is suitable and engaging and FUN for my son. The teachers and therapists are all passionate and skilled, and they truly care about the students and the work they do. It has been exciting to see the school continue to grow and evolve over the past few years, and the terrific new head of school is putting in great processes and standards that will truly benefit the children and community for years to come.

My daughter has attended Children's Academy for eight years, and we feel grateful every day that we found this school. The formula of a small classroom size; a teacher, assistant, and SLP in every classroom with talented and respected professionals, has been incredible for our child. No other school combines academics with one-on-one therapy continuously through the years of education like CA. If you are lucky enough to get a spot in this school...come! It will change your child's life!

The Children's Academy is a gem of a school for students with speech and language challenges and other learning differences. The teachers and therapists are kind, nurturing, dedicated, and smart. The Head of School brings a wealth of experience and always prioritizes the quality of the learning and therapeutic environments, as well as the safety of staff and students. There is a great focus not only on delivering academic instruction tailored to the individual needs of each student, but also on fostering social interactions and on the social-emotional well-being of each child. This school was transformational for my child who spent ten very happy and successful years at Children's Academy.

The review is been written by a family that was there 5 years! July 2022 a new principal came to School and the school has changed to the worst special Education School in NY. Do your self a favor and stay away. They kicked my son out without finding him a replacement school. He has been home for 5 weeks! With NO School.

I love this school. They are heart warming and caring about children. Evaluate each child as one and a group interaction plus activities. I like the way they set up kids homeroom by age and levels of each subjects. It's amazing way of teaching and learning plus has parents observation room.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Children's Academy. It is an excellent school for children with speech and language disorders, and a place where they can truly thrive and, indeed, excel. I am extremely grateful to have found this school, and to Sara Daum, her wonderful teachers and staff, who work so hard each day to help every student to meet his or her potential.

Children's Academy provides a warm nurturing academic experience for each child. The teachers are look at each child as an individual and exactly how that child can learn. Children become confident, make friends and feel that school is a socially rewarding place where they enjoy learning !

Children's Academy transforms both students and their families. Many students come to CA feeling less than or different. Administration and staff see each child as an individual capable of immense potential; both academically and linguistically. Under this school's compassionate model and supportive therapies, children begin to love learning and connecting with their peers! It is an amazing place.

The administration doesn't care and curriculum is not specialized.
