    I had a hard time finding the school in order to rate it. This is the North Education Center Communication and Interaction Program operated through 287 for kids who struggle with interpersonal relationships - often because they are on the Autism Spectrum. My son has attended here for the last 2 years and will continue this year. It is the ONLY school we have ever had him where he has been successful. The staff here are extremely well trained and caring. All of the kids are ASD-type, so there are no issues with bullying and trying to fit in among neuro-typical peers. My son has a small group of friends at school for the first time in his life. His academic progress has soared since he is no longer constantly stressed and afraid - which he was in the regular school environment. The staff here understands that ASD kids can get overwhelmed and need to take breaks to regroup occasionally. They don't punish kids for needing this. Instead, they coach them along and try to train them to conform their behavior to get along in a neuro-typical world, but they do this without making the kids feel "bad" for not being naturally able to do this.
