St. Augstine's offers a very structured and academically challenging program but it all pays off when you compare how our students do on the standardized NYS Tests and their acceptance rates (many with scholarships) to the region's most competitive high schools. Despite the previous reviewer, extra help is offered at no cost and their is a Special Education program in place with Resource Room. Parent involvement is what makes SAS so special and as a working parent myself, I have always found plent of opportunites to help out at night and on weekend. I couldnt be more thrilled with the small, nurturing and frieindly atmosphere at SAS. I know that everyone in that school cares for my child as much as I do.

St. Augustine offers a very structured and challenging academic environment and the principal is well organized and knows all of the parents, these are all positives. However where the school falls short as another reviewer had mentioned, there is only one class per grade. In an effort to attract area students to the school in an area where some of the public school districts are of high caliber academics are challenging so test scores remain higher than the public schools. Where this school falls short is if your child cannot keep up with the majority of the class (which many cannot) parents are expected to pay for extra help through a private tutor or learning center at their own expense in addition to already high tuition costs. The school offers no extra help or resource room for students having difficulties in certain subjects this is a significant shortfall. additionally parents are expected to be involved which Is a positive, however the extent the school expects is rather high and time consuming nwhich can prove difficult for households with both parents working. There is also a teacher's conference once a month that always falls on a Friday after a 2 hour school day.

My daughter started their Pre-K program this year and we had some transition issues with her to the classroom. The support and personal attention both my daughter and I received was outstanding. Now she LOVES going to school and the program and curriculum is amazing. Our children are not just a body in a classroom, this school caters to each individual childs needs to ensure a positive and nuturing experience. You don't get that in public schools. I can't say enough good things about the school, its teachers and administration.

When our school closed June 2011, we started a search for another school that would offer us the best education that included a community feeling and a strong spiritual presence. After exploring other options, we walked into St. Augustine and found a combination of top-notch academics, a welcoming community and spirituality. These qualities have helped us to transition and become part of the St. Augustine family. Although we live an hour away, we are very happy with our decision in choosing St. Augustine School.

As the old proverb says, "It takes a village to raise a child." St. Augustine School is our extended family. We respect one another, watch over each other's children, and live the same values. Families who pray together, stay together! ; ) We chose St. Augustine School because of the impressive results of New York State Assessment exams. The classes are intimate and the teachers get to know each and every student. Religious education was also a key factor in our selection. The kids are taught important life lessons and good values by their parents, their teachers, and the church. You receive feedback on your child's performance both academically and socially which is very important to us. Being part of St. Augustine School and Parish has been a great blessing!
