My child is having a great experience at New Prairie. The honors and AP courses are challenging and worthwhile. There are a large number of extracurricular activities to participate in.

I am a recent graduate. My experience at New Prairie was excellent. The leadership from the Superintendent on down to the individual teachers was professional and you knew they cared for the students. Student-Athletes are extremely well taken care of, as the entire community is fully invested in the schools athletic programs. Other extracurricular activities are top notch as well, such as the choir, band and trades. School officials are constantly working to improve every aspect of the students educational environment. Sending your children to New Prairie is an excellent choice and you can have comfort in knowing they will receive and excellent education in an elite learning environment.

In my time at this school I could not have asked for a better experience. The engagement of faculty, students, and community is unmatched. This school is a home away from home. The teachers care and take the extra step. I would never imagine sending my children to any other school.

Rampant bullying and a culture of torment for many students. Ignorance and drama and close mindedness abound. It’s like being in the 50s and early 60s

I am going to be a senior this coming fall and I’m honestly terrified. The administration has never been on my side and I have been the target for relentless racial profiling and extreme bullying since my freshman year. One time I went off on a kid for saying a homophobic slur and I got taken down to the office and told that I was “too aggressive” and that they would’ve handled this quietly. I have never seen a kid here get into trouble for saying literal slurs. It has gotten to the point where kids will brag about not getting into any trouble. Also as a trans student I am forced to use the staff bathrooms, which is fine, BUT people constantly stand in front of the door and wait for me to come out, bang on the door and yells slurs at me through the door. Not a single one of them has even gotten a stern talking to. They also don’t respect any cultural headwear, such as durags, hijabs, and other headwraps. My sophomore year they had 4 police cars surround my house because I forgot to sign in and do my online schoolwork. If you love and respect your child DO NOT put them in this school.

This school is full of teachers not doing their jobs and students that bully multiple people and do not recieve any punishments. The principal is all about publicity and will do anything to get the punlicity that he wants. There are so many people bullied and even when it's brought to the administration multiple times, they say they'll handle it and do nothing. A school with an A grade, but should be a C or even a D.

Unfortunately for me, as a student I felt like this school was very sub-par in comparison to the surrounding education centers. While there are some staff that really do make the school a much better place to be in, a large portion of the teachers are lazy and repugnant. Refusal to change even when something does not work for students, is one of the biggest problems I had. NPHS has a rating of 6/10 based on standardized tests the school has taken, yet I will tell you they do not try to change in any way shape or form to make it better for the students. Not only this, but also I as well as many many others were bullied in our time at this school, and found the response to it very, very unsatisfactory. Literally nothing was done to them because they simply were part of extra-curricular activities. I left this school my senior year and went on to get my GED. I do not recommend this school, and I will never allow my children to attend it.
