This school is down right the worst school I’ve EVER seen! Save your money please! I have a whole LIST of things that need to be talked about:Principle:Has compared the girls to French fries; straight up HOMOPHOBIC and bias teaching/instructing; As the religion teacher he held a debate about abortion with only 2 girls in the class, and the 2 girls who would have been most effected by this topic were put down because their opinions were ‘wrong’ and that it shouldn’t be their choice; He gave a class where the students could either have a debate about transgender or read a book, made for adults, about transgender, rape, homosexuality, abortion, porn, and other VERY inappropriate topics that 8th graders should not have to read.Administration:When students had problems with a girl busting open stalls on other girls in the restroom, nothing was done but when a boy accidentally hit another students crotch when swinging his arms the boy got expelled; The color of socks and lengths of hair was more important than the safety of their students.Food/kitchen: the kitchen has dead lizards and cockroaches in the drains and the stove and oven was so gross! The food was always mid and the eating at one point was a D; there has been moldy, expired, undercooked food served to students and when confronted they were told to “scrape it off with a knife”.Overall I can’t say much good about this school. The only good part was the athletics program. The students were taught great sportsmanship and the AD was amazing at her job and her support with athletics has changed the schools program 180.

My experience at St. Paul was awful the bathroom are dirty I would rather go pee in a ditch you can not allow to be your self or express who you are without fear of being judged by the authorities in the school do not go to this school if you are a part of the lgdtq community or if you support

Writing this review has leaned heavily on my heart, but I am compelled to share so other families will not be subjected to what our family went through at St. Paul. While we found most of the teachers at St. Paul to be solid educators, good people, and committed to their students, turnover at the school is high, educators are often frustrated with the school's administration, and the school's achievement in standardized testing is low for a private, small school. What's more, the school's religious teaching focuses on draconian, ultra orthodox teaching rather than helping young people develop relationships based on scripture and the Great Commandments. The middle school is not prepared to handle the emotional and social issues that arise in those grades, particularly after the pandemic. Many students are on opportunity scholarships, come from broken homes, or are being raised by grandparents. There is lacking emotional or mental health support for more challenging situations. Our child was not a disciplinary problem at school, but cruelty and bullying among the students was rampant; discipline and punishment for such behaviors was often uneven, arbitrary, or nonexistent. Again, the school was much more concerned with dress code rather than the social development of responsible, kind young people. Some athletics were more unimpressive than others. An example: one coach plays their own child for every single game, denying other promising players an opportunity to rise to a higher level. Very few families from originally from Eastern North Carolina today send their children to St. Paul. The school pulls in families who have moved from other states, who do not know, and who and want a private education with inexpensive tuition. Many, many local families have pulled their children from the school for other schools, for the same reasons I cite above. By its location, the school should be filled with families from Trent Woods to downtown, native and non-native. But it's not. And it's a shame. The school has so much potential to be a garden of learning and virtue. But be warned, it is not a consistent educational environment and certainly not a place of emotional wellbeing.

Saint Paul has not only provided a strong academic foundation for our son but it has also become a part of our family that continues to bless us. The faculty and staff exhibit and encourage spiritual growth, character, family atmosphere and the level of caring that is second to none. We have found this school to be a wonderful collaboration of caring families who share the same Catholic Faith and who support one another.

I am a student at this school and other students mostly boys say bad words and x rated stuff I don't think the staff know tho. Other than that the school is normal and it has good teachers there.

Something good came out of covid. We found St Paul. Our son has struggled for years in public school. Last year at st paul he flourished in reading thanks to the Intervention they have there. She worked with our son every day. He loves her. She is always cheerful and genuine. We love that our son is happy to go to school every day.

A small school with big school opportunities. Each child is more than just the name. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure each student is performing to their potential. The fine arts enrichment program Provides many opportunities to learn extracurricular subjects each quarter and is growing.

St. Paul has been an amazing school as well as support. During the hurricane, they truly helped the families in need. Not only did they help with their own 2 hands, but they made sure to help financially during a time of struggle. I am beyond grateful for what this school and church has done to help my family and teach my daughter.

5+ years at this school so far and only positive interactions with both students and teachers. Small class sizes give individual learning opportunities and the fine arts program after school means our children can participate in music lessons and even sports without having to leave the school.

The school is fantastic! Their fine arts program is unmatched. I love that my kids can take piano, guitar, theater and play sports without having to drive all over town.

I would never consider sending my children back to St. Paul school. Take some time to look around and find a school with a principal that has a grasp on curriculum and educational standards.

Excellent!! St Pauls offers a quality education for all ages of children. They outperform many others in standardize testing and always score well above grade level. Looking at the quality of the Alumni, My children will be proud to be one of those exceptional adults one day! There is a focus on involvement both for school and afterschool activities and sports. That is what we all want as parents and leaders for our children, right?

Prior to enrolling in this school, we were given many stories of the past, some good some bad. Appreciating the history that stands behind the Catholic school we were impressed with the changes that have occured compared to some negative feedback we received previously. The staff and administration are all very engaging and supportive of every individual family. The programs that are offered touch the bounds of being very current and energizing. We have the time to speak with the educators and share feedback of our children's successes and failures. They care and help in any way necessary. Eventhough this is a small school, there are several extra-curricular activities to include basketball and cross-country. They are competitive with the other teams in the conference. They do like for family involvement and parent volunteers in many of the activities. Come see a hidden gem in New Bern.
