My Experience with this school has been horrible!!!!!! My kid started going in kindergarten and he is in 1st grade now. My son has gotten hurt at school a couple times. This last time was it for me, a kid pushed him so hard his nose was bleeding and couldn't breathe for a couple seconds. When I called the school, the NEW principal did not have one care in the world. She would talk over me and when I tried to explain to her my son was slapped before this incident, she told me Well were not talking about that one we are talking about today. She DIDNT seem like she cared at all, this happened at dismissal, and she told me she would have to call kids parents on that Monday since it was Friday. It should have been taken care of IMMEDIATELY, but I guess she didn't care at ALL as I was REALLY REALLY UPSET!! I WOULD NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO MCGAVOCK ELEMENTRY!! THE PRINCIPAL had the assistant principal call me back she couldn't do it herself! My kids been pushed and shoved as well. They do not keep eyes on the kids when they are out the classrooms or my child wouldn't be getting hurt or bullied if they did! Also, they had really good plan for dismissal last year and this year it's a mess every single day! nothing is organized or the same since the new principal came!

Small, friendly, diverse school. The staff know and care for all students and their families.

I attended this elementary school for the second grade back in 2010-2011, it was not a pleasant experience especially for a 7 year old. the uniform policy shouldn't be applied for a public school especially when there are children living in poverty there. I had a classmate who came to school in one of her father's work shirts and was forced to stand the entire day of school because she broke the dress code. AT 7 YEARS OLD! The teacher was unnecessarily strict and hateful towards the children, trying to teach us perimeter that young and forced us to walk around the classroom and count our steps for an hour until everyone had the same right number of steps. Overall I, and many others, had a terrible experience attending this school and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This school cares about it's students. I currently have five children enrolled at McGavock Elementary.

This school is great! Several of my children have been through or are currently at McGavock. The teachers, staff, and principal are wonderful and go out of their way to help families. If you want your child to receive a great education in a supportive, family-style environment, then send them here! 5 stars all the way!

Absolutely do not send your child here. Especially if you have a special needs child that gets inclusion in a general ed setting. The principal is disrespectful to parents and they make IEP meeting unbearable.

I attended this school k-4th back in the 70s and now my son is in the 2nd grade here at McGavock Elem. All of the staff is like family to my son. They don't only care about his learning but his well being and they are always asking about myself, even the 4th grade teachers are helping and talking with the younger children. Just this year we got a new principle, Dr. Chris Marczak. This man is doing so much for our school, everyone loves him!! I hope you will consider our wonderful school for your $20,000 prize. Thank you so much.
