I think this school is great for a typical child but sadly the Solly school charges 3x thr normal tuition for a child with special needs. Seems like a money grab to me. The purpose of education should be about integrating all children and providing individual supports. Not keeping children with special needs separate....do better LA

There were, when I attended from 2010-2017, no programs for students with learning difficulties. I was shy/quiet, didn't have many friends, and at the time I had no clue I was on the autistic spectrum. I remember crying to my mom in 10th grade because there was too much going on at home, school, and in my mind. Anytime I sat down to do homework or take a test in class, I blanked. I asked her if there were any easier way to learn besides homeschooling, only to be told I had to stay at Lipscomb-- trying to learn from teachers who constantly got off-track with personal stories they'd switch in and out of during their "lessons." Yes, not doing their jobs, but using 14-18 year olds as therapists. They also never trained the teachers on what to actually do if a student's phone rang in class (until my junior year.) If a student didn't speak up & hand their phone over, the teacher would (very aggressively) walk around the room while degrading us under their breath and confiscate everyone's device... Beyond unprofessional, beyond distracting when I was just trying to learn, and beyond overwhelming/confusing for anyone with learning difficulties. Of course it was only ever the younger teachers behaving that way.My mom told me that we could get a diagnoses for my processing disorder and see if the guidance counselor knew of any program that might help me-- none of which existed at the time.(That same counselor called me out of class to her office one day to say that my "teachers mentioned my behavior was concerning them," without telling me what concerned them. I was never told that they mentioned it to her because they cared about me, only that it was protocol. She only asked me why I felt the need to isolate myself, to which I had no good response since I was a traumatized, uncomfortable 15y/o.)I knew there was something different about the way my brain functioned, but at the time assumed everything was wrong with me and my differences- because that’s what I was shown. I had no idea how to ask for help, and genuinely thought I was just a failure. Because I wasn’t “academically performing” as well as literally everyone around me (even the football players with concussions had better grades than me. I know they were getting assistance, but all that would have been was extensions on homework deadlines. It's wild how much that type of assistance would have made a difference for my life.)If your child has learning difficulties, do not force Lipscomb on them.

It’s not the Christian environment it once was when it was David Lipscomb. Many of the amazing teachers that made this school great have transferred or have been forced out. I regret ever sending my children there.

The teachers and students are very bad. I did not feel welcome at this school. The administration was poor at responding to my friend and I being sexual harassed at this school. Please do not send your child here if you want to have your child free from sexual talk.

It exceeds all expectations. We could not ask for better. The supports they have in place are amazing; spiritually, academically, emotionally. The student body is very welcoming and involved. It’s worth every dollar.

Quite terrible, the preference of some students over others is very obvious. A lot of the teachers here like to inject their political ideologies into their lessons which was more apparent than ever in last year's theme of diversity of race, sex, etc. instead of the importance of diversity of thought, of which, they hate when it comes from people who are on the political right wing.

Our daughter was blessed to be able to take High School and College classes her senior year on the same campus. Very high Academic Opportunities!

Despite the school being labeled Church of Christ, over half of the student body is not Church of Christ. I am not Church of Christ and I feel every comfortable at this school. I am involved in duel enrollment college courses at the university, sports, and chorus. This school gives me many options and the staff does everything they can to help me experience everything I want to. I have been going to this school for 4 years now (I came in the middle of 8th grade) and I have always felt welcome. The teachers will also work with you if you missed days and they come before school starts and stay after to be available to help if it is needed. The school also has a tutoring center where students can get individualized tutoring as well as a quiet place to take tests or study. Because Lipscomb Academy is connected to the University, the library at the university is also open to Academy students (so is the student center with all the different restaurants). The class size on average for my grade (I have the largest grade in the school) is 20 but I have a class with 7 people in it. Overall, I love this school and I would recommend it to anyone who isn't here.

I have two children at Lipscomb Academy, and I have been extremely impressed with this school. The teachers are very involved and care about the academic, social and spiritual development of all the children. The character building Lipscomb Academy has given my children is priceless. The school is a Church of Christ school, but it is very inclusive of all faiths and backgrounds. I would recommend this school to any parent who is searching for a place for their children to build strong character that will last a lifetime.

What a despicable place!!! These people are piyful,I have seen parents buy influence here that is remarkable. Some children are held to the stricktest standards while others who smother certain teachers with gifts and such their kids get away with unbelievable behavior.certain Moms are substitute teachers, and to hear the language that they use in front of the other parents and children is shocking!. check them out good before transferring your child here. beware of this place.

this school is not what I would consider a good place for a Christian environment.I was say it is designed mostly for the faculty of the college and Academy sons and daughter's to have dominion over children that arrive here from other schools. The campus is nice, but they have a selection of cliques that control the administration which is very destructive to the students by teaching them how to manipulate people through intimidation and discrimination.I am surprised by the lack of ethnic diversity here, the minority students seem to just take it and hold their tongues? I will be sending my student elsewhere for the remainder of her/his student career ad cant wait to leave .Very and un - Christian like, I pray for an intervention for this place.

I've gone here for 3 years.... I've hated the experience. I've been struggling with faith and after going here found a different form of "Christian." The school made me feel watched all the time and policed. If your child is a very country, sports or Christian person he will enjoy LA, but I did not.

Lipscomb Academy has been such a blessing to our family. The academics are tough, but there has been an intentional focus on balance for our son. He plays sports, was in the play, and still enjoys school. I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone that is looking for a well rounded education for their child.

Lipscomb Academy has provided a wonderful academic experience for my child. He is challenged to meet his potential as a student, athlete, and as a Christian while feeling loved by those around him. The students appear to happy at Lipscomb, and the parents have been wonderful in welcoming us. I'm proud to be a Lipscomb parent!

We have been at Lipscomb for seven years. We have one child in the elementary school and two in the middle school. Our children enjoy school and love the learning experiences that Lipscomb provides. The teachers are the best around and they care about our children succeeding academically as well as spiritually. A child cannot leave Lipscomb without the confidence needed to excel in today's society.

My child is getting ready to finish her first year at Lipscomb Academy. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. As a result of the curriculum, great teachers and environment, my child has excelled beyond my expectation, both academically and spiritually. The environment at the school is very conducive for learning and expression, as well as inclusive of people from all backgrounds and faiths. The teachers truly care about the development of all the children and go above and beyond to make sure the children are excelling. I would recommend Lipscomb Academy to anyone who is searching for a place for their children to be loved and grow academically and spiritually.

My child was victimized by a horrible experience during a visit, so I advise caution. Had a great interview; she was offered a spot. Next day, Headmaster calls and recites a list of DLA student accusations which bordered on pornographic. ZERO such behavior in her background, many words not even in her vocabulary! As concerned parents we immediately got with all her educators, counselors, etc. at her existing school/were assured not a thing to worry about; she was not even capable of the accused behavior. But Lipscomb took the word of the fifth grade students over those of every professional educator in our daughter s life for four years. They even sent the Department of Children s Services to our home! The whole experience left our happy, bright girl feeling traumatized, betrayed, and sad. She has since visited other schools with zero such incidents and our lives are returning to normal. But the inmates are running the asylum at DLA. It was transparently clear to every adult except the Lipscomb faculty that the accusations were so over-the-top that they had to be made up. There s a bullying problem or something worse at this school that they refuse to recognize, so be careful.

Lipscomb is a wonderful Christian environment. Your experience depends on which teacher you are assigned. My son has attended this school for most of elementary. He excels academically with only As and Bs. This is the first year that I feel like Lipscomb is not the place for an African-American boy. His actions receive different interpretations than that of a non-minority. It has been extremely disappointing. It feels like the goal is not to teach children to be their best through academics and behavior, but to label your elementary child for childish behavior.
