I went to this school for four years. I used to get As in my classes. After we left the Village School and went to a public school I started getting terrible grades. I was so far behind in math that I needed to see a tutor 4 times a week. My friends who are still there say it has gotten even worse. The theater department is so small and they don’t even have chorus anymore. I would not recommend this school.

This school favors families with money and administrators who cater to their desires. Students who are different or do not fit the mold of their expectations are singled out and often left to fend for themselves.

We have three children at the Village School in the Lower School, and they all love going to school. As parents, we all want our children to be happy to be learning, to feel loved and cared for, and to be celebrated for who they are. The teachers and staff at TVS do this with EXCELLENCE. The school environment is so welcoming and nurturing, from teachers to security officers to lunchroom staff to facilities caretakers. Our children feel safe, they are learning well, and they are broadening their experiences with opportunities for extracurriculars, arts and athletics.

We sent our daughter there for her Freshman year. It was terrible. It is very expensive and there are constant additional fees, including a “mandatory” retreat you have to pay to send them on. In addition to the fees and tuition, you are constantly hounded for money. They run fundraisers year round and you receive texts and emails almost daily. The names of families who donate are published in an effort to shame those who don’t. Families of big donors are treated like royalty. With all that fundraising going on I wish I could say you could see a benefit to the facilities or the education, but you do not. There is year-round teacher turnover and most of the teachers are absolutely terrible. The school is VERY small for the number of students they are trying to cram in. The athletic program is unimpressive and the arts program is practically nonexistent. The public school is not only free, it is far superior. Oddly, for a religious school, there is very little religious education as well. There are no religious courses and only chapel once a week. If you are looking for a Christian school experience, there are better options in Naples for that as well.

Academics at the school are terrible. My daughter was so far behind after we left this school that it took tons of tutoring and extra help to get her caught up. She ended up with anxiety after all of it. I’ve heard from families who stayed that the extra curriculars have been gutted as well. They are so hyper-focused on their sports program, which doesn’t make sense at all. We switched to a public school which is not only free but also far superior

My son started The Village School in middle school, and it was a great fit for him from the start. The teachers, staff, admin, and athletic departments are all so encouraging, kind, and accessible. My son has always tested high, but came in a little behind because of the school he was at previously and his anxiety was really holding him back. After a semester at TVS, he was back to his joyful, witty self, had made a good group of friends, and was caught up on school. The things I really like about TVS is the college prep portion and their AP course offerings. They’re a Platinum AP Award school, which is a high distinction and a testament to their education. It’s also a Christian school, but it’s not about indoctrination, which we wanted to avoid. What they do focus on and teach has led to a lot of really deep and meaningful conversations around faith with my now teenager. As far as athletics, I do think there’s a lot of room for growth and improvement. However, they are investing in that with the coaches they’ve hired and the way they structure their school day. They’re building, but if you want major team athletics this is probably not the school…yet. They do have a variety of sports available each season though. What I can say is that I feel my child is safe and very much cared for at TVS. He has grown so much in confidence, his faith, and responsibility. His anxiety has quieted and he’s now taking a couple of high school courses as an 8th grader after coming in behind. We plan to stay through high school. It was the right choice for us, so I definitely recommend checking it out and seeing if it’s the right fit for you.

I went to TVS but transferred after 9th grade. I was very unhappy with the high school. It was so small and you had very little opportunity. I used to like some things about TVS. They used to have a great performing arts program and a great thespian troop. We went to State every year. But the school cut the program, cut chorus classes and never even had a band. There is not enough support for the arts there anymore. They are focused on growing their sports programs but the sports teams will never be good because the school is just too small.

We have three children. They attended TVS from 2020 to 2024. We have experience with the lower, middle and upper schools as well as their “TLC” program which is extra reading help you can receive with an additional cost of approximately $8000 per year. Our experience with the TLC program was overall a good one and my child received the help she needed. We did, however, have a bumpy start with this program because the first TLC teacher was not doing her job or seeing the students when she was supposed to. They also used to have a wonder fine arts teacher, but he was forced out by the middle of the year in 2023. Their once strong performing arts program crumbled after that point.Bullying continues to be a big problem at TVS. When we experienced bullying issues we received little to no help from the school. In our case, many of the bullies were from families who were large donors to the school.Only a few of my high school daughter’s teachers had actual teaching degrees. Her Algebra 1 Honors teacher has no teaching degree, no classroom experience and no ability. He was so bad that after months of back and forth with administrators we were forced to pull her from math and enroll her in FLVS to finish the class. Her virtual teacher identified immediately how far behind she was from the public school curriculum. We’ve also discovered that although my daughter received great grades in French 1 and French 2 through TVS, the curriculum covered so little compared to the public schools that my daughter needed to repeat French 2 next this rather than moving forward with French 3.The school also brags about a strong AP curriculum. However, I would encourage prospective parents to inquire how many AP classes are actually currently being taught. Also ask what the AP test passing rate is for each class. And, yes, schools do receive this data.I would also encourage parents to inquire how many current TVS upper school students are enrolled in virtual online classes to supplement holes in the curriculum. Ask what the student retention rate is. Ask what the average SAT and ACT test scores are, and ask for proof. Both student and staff turnover are very high. We greatly regret staying in TVS despite the many red flags, but our horrible experience with the upper school was the final straw.

The best thing about this school is the teachers are kind and care about their students. I am saddened by those teachers have departed and planned to depart soon. The academic standards are overall very weak.

This school is great, the teachers are excellent and communicate, the other students are welcoming and kind, and the course offerings for the middle school are incredible.

We have had our kiddo at TVS since Pre-K 1's! We love how thoughtful and caring the teachers are. Everyone from the school nurse, to the receptionist, to the enrichment teachers knows your child very well and makes their learning environment one they can thrive in! They offer lots of extra-curriculars to choose from and are always willing to work with you if any challenges arise in your personal life or a concern with school. Our kiddo loves going here! The technology at the school is amazing and while we were in a virtual learning format everyone truly went above and beyond. We are proud to be a TVS family!

If you are moving to Naples, please do not waste your time at the public schools, like I did. Please realize that FL has their own tests and rating scale and a "9" rated school is the equivalent to a "5" where I come from in the midwest. When it comes to private schools, this one is the best if your family values character and thinking skills above all else. These two skills will train your child up to be a LEADER, not just a worker-bee with straight A's. My husband and I are both college graduates and successful entrepreneurs. We are teaching our children that no one owes them a job when they graduate from college. They need to provide their own job and provide jobs for other people. My eighth grader is in a class at the Village school that is teaching her how to run her own business. They are actually going to make and sell decorative storage bins. This school is hands-on practical in all areas. (Please note that they are opening a high school in the fall of 2016).

The Village School is the best school in Naples. As summer was coming to an end instead of my children dreading summer being over they were excited to get back to school. The Village School offers so many classes for children to really practice what they are learning. Kids who love math can excel in advance math courses as well as take courses that help them think creatively and outside the box. For example Math Strategies, Structural design, Engineering. Kids who love Science can enrich their learning by taking a Space Design, Robotics and many more. The courses they offer are fabulous and make my kids excited to go to school every day. They are also the only independent school in Florida to have a fully trained staff for STEAM education. Kids are writing a paper in English class what they are learning about in Social Studies and in Science they maybe building what they are learning. The school is truly amazing from the head of school, to the staff and the wonderful families my children are going to school with every day.

The village school was a disappointment. I heard so many nice things about this place, but my daughter regressed since enrolled for 2 years. Her learning stalled and she became more introverted. The teachers, in my opinion, are not qualified. I was also turned off by the superficiality of this church school. Parents, especially the mothers, seemed more interested in showing off their designer fashions than being good parents. I went to very elite schools in new england and the real rich don't act like the parents at the village school. Overall, was not impressed by anything. Seacrest and Community School are much better, academically and in many other ways. I would pay more and send my children there and get a real education instead of at some cute little church school with subpar education and phony parents trying to show off too much.

The Village School might as well be the best school in Naples. The teachers are great and very hands-on, and it makes it a lot of fun for my kids. It makes me proud to have my kids there.

This school is an absolutely fantastic school. My kids learn something every single day, and they are challenged and they love it! Not only that, the teachers are kind, caring and they stand out. They are planning to have a high school completely based on engineering and performing arts (Band, Orchestra, etc.)Thanks to the Village School, my kids are gifted in many things.

My child has been at this school for 11 years (including preschool). She has thrived in this loving, nurturing environment. The spanish teacher is superb. I wish we could clone her and take her to high school with my daughter. The middle school teachers are great and encourage our children to do their best. Mrs. Haskins stands out and I am so proud of her. She encourages without nagging, listens and guides with positive feedback, and is a natural at truly caring about each child. My kids have been fortunate to have her as their teacher.
