Mason Classical Academy is probably one of the worst schools I’ve ever been to. If you're looking for a place where every little mistake is treated like a crime, then this is your dream school. The rules are so strict it feels like you’re living in a prison. You can’t even breathe without someone telling you to follow a rule and its seems like they have a vendetta against certain student aswell. The teachers are basically walking rulebooks with no sense of humor. They don’t care if you're struggling or need help – they’re just focused on making sure every single thing you do is “perfect” by their impossible standards. The principal is like a robot programmed to enforce every rule with zero compassion. If you’re even a second late to class, you’ll get detention. No exceptions. And don’t even think about asking a question in class unless you want to be reprimanded for being too “disruptive.”The so-called “classical” part? Don’t be fooled. It’s just code for doing the same boring worksheets over and over while being expected to know everything without any real teaching. There’s no room for creativity or independent thinking. It’s like a factory that produces mindless drones.Honestly, I’d rather go anywhere else. The stress is not worth whatever “education” they’re offering here. Avoid this school if you value your sanity and personal freedom.

If you're considering enrolling your child at Mason Classical Academy , I feel it's essential to share my honest experience. The school's current environment is far from conducive to fostering a well-rounded and happy child. To start with, the school is severely lacking in resources and support. From my observations, the staff appears stretched thin and unable to provide the individual attention that students might need. The absence of essential educational tools and support structures is deeply concerning, and it’s clear that the school struggles to meet the basic needs of its students. The school’s approach to discipline is also troubling. It seems the administration has adopted an overly stringent and rigid framework that doesn’t accommodate normal childhood behaviors. Rather than nurturing curiosity and allowing for the occasional lapse in focus, the school enforces rules that feel excessively harsh. The absence of a playground is a glaring issue—children need space to play and socialize, which is crucial for their development. Without it, students are deprived of a fundamental part of their childhood. Moreover, the school’s ethos appears to promote conformity over creativity. Students are expected to adhere to a rigid set of expectations, stifling their ability to think independently or form their own opinions. This environment cultivates a sense of uniformity where children are discouraged from expressing their individuality. Instead of developing into self-thinking, confident individuals, students are pressured to fit a narrow mold that may not align with their natural inclinations. The system of demerits at the school is another area of concern. The criteria for issuing demerits seem arbitrary and disproportionate, often handed out for minor infractions that don't warrant such severe responses. This punitive approach fosters an atmosphere of fear rather than learning and growth. In summary, if you are seeking a school that encourages independent thought, personal expression, and a joyful learning environment, Mason Classical Academy may not be the right fit. The current climate of excessive control and lack of support can overshadow the benefits of education, leaving children feeling more like cogs in a machine than vibrant individuals. Consider other options where your child can thrive both academically and personally.

The worst experience I've ever had with a school. Day one my son was not sent to the proper after school program, with no communication to me. My son is in kindergarden and has been getting sent to the office every other day schools only been in for 3 weeks and he's gotten sent home twice and suspended today. This school is a joke, there are far better schools here than this.

Amazing curriculum and teachers. I love my classes here and the classical education. However, the administration leaves a much to be desired. This school is very strict in some ways, but they let certain things go unpunished when it suits them. If you aren't conservative and religious, be prepared to have your ideas views constantly challenged. I have gone to this school since the second grade in 2017, and, in my experience, this is a good school overall. While there are some issues, I love Mason and would not be the person I am today without it!

My kids have been attending the school for about 7 years and all 3 have had an excellent experience. The curriculum is second to none , teachers and administrators are amazing. We feel blessed to be part of this institution.

The 2019-20 school year was our first year at Mason. Our daughter requested to enter the lottery for Mason in January of her 8th grade year while attending a local middle school. SHE chose Mason to be her high school. Her reasoning was that she had met some kids from Mason and thought they were respectful, and kind and less interested in popularity and more about academics. Her first quarter at MCA was an academic eye-opener when she received Failing grades in all her core classes, ending with a .86 GPA... We questioned the move and whether this school was just too academically advanced for her but couldn't ignore her obvious lack of fundamentals from "traditional" schooling. Her education was full of holes in foundational concepts that were essential building blocks to learning. We still deal with these gaps but every year she has worked hard to close them and has become far more confident in her academic abilities. We now have a high school Junior that’s studious, accountable, eager to learn, and thinks it’s “cool” to be smart and teach her parents about things that we never even learned. School is no longer a chore but something she relishes. Now she’s interested in becoming a teacher because Mason is blessed with teacher’s that are engaging and have made learning fun. We will forever be grateful that we didn’t give up on Mason in those early days. Our daughter is now holding her own academically, with the credit going to her own determination and of course MCA.

Can’t say enough about this school. I love that our children can truly still experience what it means to have and exercise freedom of speech and religion without experiencing fear or persecution. A rare thing these days. They are an amazing school and our children are truly learning. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

Mason has been our school of choice since the doors opened. The growth and development of a charter takes about 10 years and while this can cause people to be frustrated, if you understand that things take time you’ll change your perspective. There is so much good going on in the halls and classrooms of MCA that you really need to visit and take a tour. The admin do feature a bit of the action on Facebook which is nice. No school is perfect, but Mason keeps its mission in mind when adding things to the school. I appreciate the focus and dedication.

After being at MCA for over 6 years, we continue to value our kids education here. The difference here between the district schools, that we appreciate is the consistency of curriculum. Classical education has been around for quite some time. Main Curriculum is the Core Knowledge sequence, Riggs Phonics, and Singapore math. These are time tested and developed programs that bring MCA to another level. The teachers are top notch and many truly love the students so much it shows. Empowering the teachers to teach and not stress on taking a state test for months. It is a breath of fresh air.

We have been at this school for 2 years now coming into the 3rd and as of right now I don't see a better school for our family. Mason Classical Academy is everything we want the school to be for our children.

8.5/10. It is not a perfect school but my boys are thriving here. They would’ve been shoved along or left behind in traditional public school. I’m grateful for the leadership and teachers here
