The ratings do not do this school justice. My wife and I were hesitant putting our 1st grader in this school when we bought our house 2 years ago. We applied for different charter schools and were accepted to victory charter school but based off a recommendation from a good friend we decided to stay in our school district and enroll in Sherman elementary. I could not be happier with our decision! I feel like the whole faculty is extremely involved and invested in the success of their students. There are frequent updates and reminders via email. Any issues or concerns we had were addressed quickly and resolved effectively. My wife volunteered in my daughter's 1st grade class in an effort to support the school and we were amazed with there process and techniques. We were pleased to see there were several other parents volunteering as well. Extra support was available and given to students who were struggling without ignoring the students who were not struggling. The use of technology is integrated into each of the classrooms. The principle is amazing and has worked to secure grants and funding to give these children opportunities I never had as an elementary school student. Overall I could not be happier with our experience!

I have noticed the caring and focused attention to each and every child. The teachers and other faculty members are able to challenge the children who academically excel as well as pay special attention to children who are academically challenging. To put is simply: the children are happy. When I speak to the children, they feel their teachers are someone they can trust.

The school is located in an underserved community. Academics and class room time are are reflective allowing educators to go through the motions. There is a stereo typical feministic culture lacking professionalism, focus on gossiping, and an atmosphere of laziness. Located in an underserved community where there is an abundance of single parents the culture follows society's bias against men and discourages their involvement. Neighboring districts have higher ratings and more advanced programs. It is troubling this school has minimal to no fund raising efforts. If a PTA exists it is sub par as other schools have and post regular meetings and their members are active.

I feel they are very rude. They don't push your child they let them Give up way too easy. The secretary's there are not helpful. I will not be allowing my child back there.

I don't feel my child is being taught. When we attended parent/teacher conferences she played with toys on the rug and her teacher informed us our child spent most of her time in time out for not focusing. She is not being taught or instructed to focus. She spends up to half her day at the desk doing work on her own. She is in K and doesn't know what she's supposed to be doing because she is sent to the time out desk instead of being taught.

I have sent all of my kids here since my 17 year old was in kindergarten. Aside from the woman who led the friendship club in (08 or 09 ) I have never had any problems with this school.. I think my 2nd grade son has a great teacher , whom he had last year as well (Mrs Knutson) my complaint is with the new rules on holiday party's etc.. I think all the kids look forward to the holiday fun and I strongly disagree with taking That away from them!! I am in the process of finding a new school to send my kids..

Sherman is a 5 star school! Sherman is a very low income school and we do as much as we can to stomp out hunger in our kids. We have a red back pack program that feeds low income and homeless students at Sherman. They pick up their back packs on Fridays full of food for the weekend and then bring them back to be filled up the next week. Sherman is going to be putting together food boxes during the summer to keep these kids fed throughout the summer months. This $20,000 would give Sherman the ability to help even more kids in need at Sherman. Pleace help us end hunger in our students at Sherman. Thank you, a proud parent of a Sherman student.
