We love this school! This year in particular has a great administration and awesome teachers have stayed and more great teachers have been added. The kids are expected to follow the rules and the teachers help the kids that are struggling and challenge the kids that want more of a challenge. Even though the class sizes are pretty big, the teachers do a great job at giving each child a great education and genuinely care for the kids.

I think this school is horrible. I have had 3 children in this school and two are still there. I think the teachers are awful. I had one shut the door in the face of my daughter who is a juvenile detention officer in Boise. Teacher said she was afraid. My daughter had come to have lunch with her niece. This was very upsetting to my granddaughter. We have had my grandson pushed and fell on the curb and he was hurt with a big knot on his forehead. No one called. Take all of this and think about if this is the school you want your kids in. The teachers are there for the money not the kids. I have had 1 or 2 teachers that have been OK. From the principle and office ladies all need to find new jobs.

Didn't challenge the higher functioning kids at all. The work was all rote and required 0 creativity from the children. Basically the work was soul-sucking. My child felt that his teacher was too intimidating to ask questions. Teachers made extreme use of jargon and often answered questions about what one thing meant with MORE acronyms and jargon. The school was not proactive about creating a kind and welcoming atmosphere for children. We went to Birch because it was well-rated but it was a terribly disappointing experience.

I went in to let the teacherKnow that on the 2nd day of school that my son had gotten a concussion. she brushed it off and sent him to play. When the bell rang, my son didn't know where his classroom was. Wandering on the playground, sheStared at him and shut her classroom door. Another teacher saw him and helped him. At this point, he doesn't even know what his teachers name is. Watching this because I knew something was wrong, I got out of my car and took him to his classroom door which was locked, and explained yet again his concussion to another teacher. My son also needs speech, so he is sometimes shy or hard to understand. So the teacher opens the door, and let's him in like its no big deal. For the best scho in the district, I am so far very disappointed by the lack of attention ON THE 2nd DAY OF SCHOOL! There was also no cpunication to change my sons schedule. When I was notified via the principal, she then later denied it. Teachers have bad attitudes and office staff isn't very friendly either.

I've dealt with several elementary schools in different states, different parts of the U.S. and this school out shines all others by far. The teachers and staff are caring and go above and beyond for not only the students but their families as well. I highly recommend trying Birch Elementary out for your children if you ever have the chance.

My two children in grades 4 and 1 began attending Birch at the beginning of this school year (2011-2012) and both have received a great education and love their new school! The teachers and staff that we have encountered have all been wonderful! The school facilities are newer and well-maintained; the school atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. And the emphasis on character education is a great bonus! We are very pleased with our experience at Birch!
