This school is disgusting. Dropping off a 5 year old near a pond, not helping the parent find her and the child missing for an hour! I would never send my child here!

This elementary school and its despicable employees are in hot water right now due to a bus driver telling a little girl to get off the bus with no adult and not knowing where to go. They’ve gone viral for losing this little girl and showing no regard for safety of the child or sense of urgency when they found out the child was missing. They showed no signs of comfort or help when a worried mother was looking for her missing daughter. They would not give the mother the name of the bus driver responsible. They were just quiet passive and belittling to the mother in general. The girl was later found, noticeably upset and crying. Do not give this district the time of day if you care about the well-being of your child.

This school left a 5yr old child at a bus stop where she got lost for over an hour!!!! While the mother was screaming and crying in the office to get help all the school did was record her and tell her to go on her way so disgusting on your schools part you guys need to do better all the reviews I see is how rude and incompetent your staff is do better!

This school just lost a woman's child, dropping her 5 year old off at the wrong place, and had her missing for an hour with no help given to the mother. They simply recorded her in distress. Don't send your kids here if you want a school that actually cares and will bring your child back whole.

We moved to Horry County and are very happy with River Oaks Elementary. The teachers really care about the students and will go out of their way to help students. Our nephew's test grades has increased since enrolling in River Oaks. The staff and Teachers actually love teaching and it shows in our students. We have seen our nephew's grades improve each semester and because of the extra help he has received from his teachers now we are seeing his confidence improve as well!

We are new to this school and I have to say, I had high hopes and I am disappointed. I thought we needed time to adjust but this school lacks a lot. There is a huge lack of communication, events and family/school relationships. Front Desk is not inviting at all, so far Teacher communication has been bare minimum and zero support for those doing Virtual and having them for Base School. I have one that attends B&M and another Virtual. In comparison to our last School, there were SO many events for children and families, communication was used through calling, emails, Social Media Pages and children’s folders, it was very community active and overall a story book school. RO seems more of a get the kids in and out. There is no flare or anything special about this school. It’s very cold. Teachers do not seem overly excited about this school from the outside looking in. The Car Rider Line can be intimidating but I do have to say, there are always smiling faces morning and afternoon! Afternoon, especially to the sweet lady reading car tags. She by far has been the most pleasant part of this school.

We have been at the school for 5 years - 3 children. We had a fantastic experience until this past year. The more recent hires of teachers have not met the expectations that were previously exceeded.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher Mrs Williams is fantastic and the principal Mr. Homer is such a wonderful caring man.
