Where to start? So many areas need improvement. The staff treats the children like army recruits when they walk down the halls. If you're an older parent, good luck because they refuse to communicate outside of dojo. Children (especially boys) are written up for VERY petty things.Parents are NOT welcome to have lunch with their child. Or really welcome in the classroom or past the front door. If you need to talk to administration, good luck-- because if the front desk doesn't answer all the time, & there's only four options on the dial pad. Lunchroom, counselor, front desk and nurse. If perchance they call you, they will not leave a detailed message, prompting a frustrating call back where you have no idea what happened and can't get anyone to a phone to tell you. To add insult to injury, they then will send a pink slip home for; I guess, the child & apparently YOU stating Parent Doesn't Answer.. so if you work.. & even call back within literally minutes it is going in your kids permanent record like your negligent. and theyre definitely the ones who don't answer. Ironically hypocritically. Not to be misanthropic however it seems like they set out to hire unkind teachers, as we been here for years & have only met two that aren't.My child comes home stating that all the teachers are mean to them & this child is on the spectrum and isn't as mature as others their age, should be, so it's very sad. When they are bullied & tells staff, they do nothing. I've heard many people say this school is the best in the area, that's alarming. It's very rare that the children are disciplined fairly, they're punished for small things like picking up a flower. Or touching a wall. Or breaking a Styrofoam lunch tray, and after a few of these petty write ups, you get tasked with them driving clear across the county to winterboro (which isn't close or a neighboring town) to a disciplinary meeting where you are raked across the coals with mostly teenagers. To say this school is unwelcoming is a VAST understatement. My experience with this school is mostly negative, regrettably. The saving grace being the school secretary who is always kind, gym teachers and bus drivers who unfortunately aren't homeroom teachers.

Teachers are not friendly, not kind to their students. Administration is shoddy, at best.I've seen the school will write a discipline report for breathing too hard, forgetting that the kids are five and six. Then, their parents have to attend behavioral classes. The school expects children to be military disciplined in this county, and NEVER allowing them to actually BE children.Safety In my experience, this school doesn't provide an environment safe from discrimination, and harsh punishment

This school is so small that they nitpick the younger students behavior. Frequent notes sent home, almost laughably. I have raised many children in many different counties even two states, and school systems in Alabama . We have never experienced anything so unwelcoming and judgemental and condescending, such as we have here. We were excited to be a part of this school as it had a great reputation, but the leadership is nitpicky of very young students who should not be expected to have perfect behavior. He's five. And he's awesome.Additionally, my ADHD student is eight and picked on by the faculty: not students. The principal told me at a 504 meeting if it was her child she'd 'get psychical". Come to find out he's autistic. The notes come home daily, it's borderline harassing.

Both my children love this school. The teachers are caring and kind. The school is innovative and strives to make learning fun.
