Although the community is pretty supportive, the academics are not up to par. If I could afford a private or charter school I would do it

This school is okay, BUT their playground play structure needs to be replaced. It is made from carcinogenic CCA treated wood. CCA treated wood was banned in 2000. Why it hasn't been replaced or even just removed is beyond me. It's a serious health hazard linked to bladder and lung cancer.

For mainstream kids this school is okay. It is very poorly funded but parents put in a lot of volunteer hours to help the school. There is no PE teacher but a mother was providing a PE class for free on her own time. They also have a school carnival every year where all parents come together to make it happen. It is amazing how many parents are involved with the school. My mainstream child did well in this school. However I also had a special education child who fell very far behind. I have been spending a lot of time getting him caught up and he is accelerating well at home. Clarkes just didn't have the staff or funding that was needed to help with his special ed needs and the principle gives you zero support for help. I rated this school low due to the fact that the special ed is the worst I have seen of 3 schools and I would never recommend a parent to go there with a special needs child.

Our family loves Clarkes Elementary. We have two children attending. Every teacher they have had so far has been fantastic. The school is small and family like. The community involvement is great and many parent/grandparent volunteers keep the school rich with helpers. The parent techer group really works hard to fund extra materials and experiences the base budget doesn't permit.

A wonderful family school. Each child is very special, and treated as such. The teachers are warm and interested in each child. Love the atmoshere and enjoy donating my time to such a wonderful school. Hands down!!
