Why do you think. Librarian is awful. My kid hated the orchestra teacher. The only good teacher was the band one.

My son attended this program from 1st-4th grade. There are about 600 kids at this school and obvious issues between regular classroom students and the challenge ones. For example, my son was punched in the face during recess from a child during 1st grade who wasn't punished and continued to bully and physically mistreat many of the students at the school on the playground, bus and school grounds. The last incident before we moved he had misbehaved and wouldn't come in from recess when they told him. The principle chased him and finally his dad was called because he wouldn't listen to them. Yet, he is still attending and antagonizing the other kids. The curriculum is basically working your child a year ahead in math and language arts. That way when they take the standardized testing they of course all pass because they did that work a year prior. No surprise there. The teachers in this program were fine. Out of the four years there was one bright shining star. The 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Kenney. She is AMAZING! She is an exceptional as a teacher for highly capable children. I wish all the teachers at Challenge could be like her! She should run the challenge program!

Excellent teachers, Administration tends to be top down, rule oriented, cya centric and sometimes in effective. The teachers use strategies to work around this as best they can. The parents are very involved, and are an interesting ,intelligent group. This is a very good program, but parents of gifted children must fill in the gaps on their own. This school does not advocate for your child, so you must.
