Love this school, my daughter is in Kindergarten & she gets homework everyday and her teacher checks it everyday... Mrs. Lugo promotes reading soo much and I love that!!

Excellent school with a new Principal and committed teachers. Heavier focus on reading and arts skills rather than STEM, with specialized reading and counselling staff. Although special events like robotics are sometimes provided. Gifted program is excellent, but needs to be expanded. Music teacher is a star. 95% of teachers are excellent, energetic. Highly recommended school.

The principal Ilene Bichler is not understanding of children's needs. Traphagen School use to be have a strong PTA and great principal leadership. The principal retired after many years at this school and Ilene Bichler became the new principal. I have children who went to this school before she became principal and one there now. She does not understand the students with special needs. When someone needed additional assistance her answer was maybe this school is not the correct placement for them. Maybe they should go to another school. This school offers resource room, why do they need to go to another school! She is very distant from parents and students, but will yes them in hopes nothing else is said. In effect, I have seen the difference in this school. The morale has gone down. It is not the same Traphagen School, Mount Vernon is use to.

This at! the teachers are in constant communication with parents, whether there is an issue or a compliment. i fel like these teachers REALLY car about our kid and it shhows through their work. The academic programs are great, and they even offer extra help on saturdays! My son has been on the honor roll every quarter! This is definitely one of the best schools in the county.
