Mt. Ida middle school is an awful school with mostly hateful teachers and principle. Everything is based on what your last name is as to what you can get away with and weather or not you have to follow the rules. The middle school principal is very unfair and judgmental. She has kids she likes and kids she doesn't. The kids she likes do not have to follow any rules and can get away with what ever they want. While the kids she doesn't like she picks on for every little thing and is continually putting them in detention. Two kids can do the same thing but only one of them get in trouble for it. It is unacceptable for a person of authority in a school to be see unfair. If your child is not one of the favored kids there is no hope the teachers and the principle will have it out for them from the beginning. I have seen this first hand when I worked there. On the other the high school is looking better and better under the direction of the new superintendent and principle.

Mount Ida High School is not where you want you your child to attend. This school is the most inadequate school I have ever attended. The majority of students are all entitled and rude, thinking they know more than any of the teachers, and their parents endorse that behavior. Bullying due to jealousy and racism runs rampant here. The only sport that is endorsed is football. None of the others matter. Many of the teachers do not know half of what they teach, in fact I was told a completely wrong fact by a history teacher, who counted it off on a test (the constitution was NOT signed in 1758, thank you very much). The kids openly talk about the drugs and alcohol they use, and are not punished because they play football. The only teachers that care about the students and their academic welfare are Beverly Smith, Patricia Jackson, and Sandy Crawford. The rest would rather be beat friends with the students and do not teach what students need to know. If you go to Mount Ida, you better be Peyton Manning, and know how to teach yourself in science, history, geometry, art, and business. If you want your child to succeed, and aren't a big name in this town, go somewhere else.

This school is an absolute joke from the teachers, coaches as well as the prin and super. I have never seen anything more depressing toward our world than seeing this school promote HATE and small town politics to the students by the teachers and the parents. If you are not from this area, you will be treated very poorly. Do not attend this school if you want fair treatment, it's simply not going to happen. They are not there for the students, its about control of the school and the athletic program from all of the locals that live there that teach and want control of their football team. I feel bad for anyone going here, they are not getting the correct education they need to be successful out in the REAL world.

I attended this school and the teachers were very good but the students are very immature (considering they grow up in such a isolated town) They all act as though they are still in 3rd grade. Overall it wasnt a bad experience but the students were very annoying.
