Mount Airy High School is one of the top schools in the nation. The majority of the school excels in academics and athletics; with each and every student strives to pursue their goals. I am a student here and I'm proud to say that it truly is one of the best schools. All students here are always welcoming to some new faces. I am really thankful for this school for always having a huge impact in my life in pursuing my hopes and dreams that lie ahead. I am proud to say that... I AM A GRANITE BEAR!

Mount Airy High School ratings listed are quite surprising, and also may be quite misleading. After 3 children attending there, I found that there was little to no parent communication, mistakes by faculty/staff that were detrimental to academic and scholarship success, and a perceived major favoritism towards certain students based upon family status, with a perceived negative attitude towards others. Little was done to encourage student success, but plenty toward student discipline. Are the other responses "padded", or just from the ones from the favored families? Would definitely recommend seeking other high school educational venues before placing a child in this school. Whether this truth will get posted remains to be seen.

I find it very interesting that on your website, Mount Airy high School received a rating of 7 out of 10, when some of the county schools received higher scores. It is a well known fact that students in the Mount airy City Schools have consistently scored higher on standardized testing across the board and also higher on the PSAT/SAT/ACT. Mount Airy City Schools have been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 3% of high schools in the U. S. I am proud to say that my children attended the Mount Airy system and have gone on to excel academically in the college setting. I am not quite sure exactly what type of scoring is used to to rate the schools on your site.
