This school is below average, not what I expected. Teachers are not that involved with students or parents. Car line ladies in the morning are rude and hit your car to " keep it moving" I choose to deal with the dreading car line because they have recently lost a student on the bus. Announcements of school spirit wear happens maybe 1 week before It doesn't give you time to prepare or buy your child something to wear for that day, not organized and not family friendly.

My daughter attended ER Dickson for second and third grades. 2nd grade was fine because it was all virtual learning. I almost pulled her out in favor of homeschooling during 3rd grade. My child (and other kids in her class) were tormented daily by a group of bullies. Pushed, kicked, hit, called all kinds of names. At school and on the bus. I spoke to the teacher, they did nothing to punish the bullies because they "never saw one of them put a hand on" my child. I spoke to the counselor, who suggested taking my child off the bus. My child, not the little clique of bullies. My husband and I enrolled our daughter at MAVL for 4th grade and it's been fantastic.

If you have a special needs child, this school is an academic death sentence. Even if your child is only mildly delayed and very smart, they will do nothing with them. And you can forget your child being gradually integrated into regular classes; the administration at that school will have none of it. Inclusion is NOT the philosophy at E.R. Dickson. Their policy is tuck them away and ignore them.

My son has attended ER Dickson since kindergarten. He is now in 3rd grade. This is not the same, wonderful school it was just 2 yrs ago. I am currently trying to find him a new school. Just as a lot of his friend's parents already have done this yr.

Principal required 5 yr old (MINOR) to sign suicide contract, (which courts would throw out in two seconds) for pointing a crayon and saying "pew, pew" is the height of stupidity. Would pull my child out of this school immediately, and Principal should be fired!

This school changes their bus route rules every year. They accommodate some parenta with children that go to the bus stop but not all!!!! They rather your child stand at a bus stop whwre there's drug activity than safe infront of their home....

E R Dickson is one of the best schools in Mobile County, my son have been a student there since K5 and will be going into the 4th grade this year 2013-2014. I love the staff from the office adminration to the teachers they are all wonderful. I was happy that my husband did his research in finding a great school for our son. I will recommend this school to any parent that is in search for that best school which they are looking for.

April 5, 2012 I am a Grandmother of a sweet hearted little girl in Kindergarten at E.R. DICKSON. E.R. DICKSON rates excellent in my book, especially after attending the school's "Spring Fling" last week. Everything was done in an orderly fashion from the Office Staff down to the Activities and my granddaughter had a wonderful time. I've been in her classroom and found the children to be of good behavior but seemed happy, not afraid. As you know, a child's K-garten experience will follow them and have an impact on the way they feel about school for the rest of their school years. My child's Kindergarten teacher is Excellent!
