Bullying has become a real issue at this school and nothing is really done about it. The location of this school is not the greatest part of town. There are lots of options for the preforming arts. Personally, I feel this school is on its way down.

I have two students at Dunbar and this school is excellent. For such a diverse student population, they meet all their students needs, from the academically challenged to the advanced students. Their special education teacher keeps my artistic 7th grader on track, while the advanced classes keep my straight A dancer challenged. These teachers really care! I have gotten phone calls from almost every teacher if there is a problem or if they need more from my kids. This is a unique experience to give your child and it's well worth the effort of getting up an hour earlier to put them on the school bus. My praises of this school are inadequate to what my kids get out of it.

I am currently a 7th grader at Dunbar. I really recommend your child coming here. We have great academics and amazing arts. If you do put your child into the magnet system, sign them up for advanced classes. The people in advanced are more willing to learn and less disruptive than regular. Overall the experience has been great for me! The bullying isn't really bad. If a kid is not succeeding or has a certain amount of write ups, they get kicked out. We have great counciling as well. And the school is very good about allergies and health diets. I am vegan and they are very accepting of that and have salads at school if I don't bring a lunch. I think that's good in a school. 10/10 recommend coming here.
