I have my kid attending pre-k and kindergarten. They have homework every week, so it helps the kids. It usually repetition of whats being taught in school. The teaching staff does a good jobWhat I do not like is how the school pushes for kids attendance. Received too much communication pushing the parents to bring the kids on time and to ensure the child does not miss to many school days. Also dont like the school hours. Why does it need to need end by 2.30p? It is very cumbersome if both the parents are working, will need to put your kid in an after school program.

This school has gone down hill in the last couple of years. The combo class for 1st + 2nd graders is a joke this year 2023/2024. Teacher does not know how to communicate, and when they do, it's always complaints about the students.

They seem to have a lot of homework and are a little bit better than other schools in the area as far as what they teach. However, the majority of the staff is extremely rude and nasty. They will get away with as much as they can.

Do not go here! The management is absolutely horrible.

Everything about this school is wonderful—the teachers, the community of kids and parents and simbiosis between them. Everything is great, EXCEPT for the principal, who has a reputation for horrible communication—no, scratch that, for REFUSING to communicate by any means other than her preferred method and even then it’s spotty, at best. The school district has apparently had to intervene very recently to ensure that the entire school would receive consistent communication by email in addition to Bloomz to make communication equitable for all families. It baffles me that someone with so much training on making classes equitable could miss this very basic bit of common sense, let alone ignore the call for it by many a parent, and require intervention by her superiors. It shouldn’t surprise me, however, when you consider that multiple families have left our school, which remains perilously close to closing due to low enrollment, because of issues at school that she has either refused to deal with or has entirely botched. She has a heavy hand with her employees, a detached coolness with the kids and snide curtness with any parent who isn’t currently serving her purposes at that particular moment. It’s such a shame. I love our school, yet the almost daily reminders of her incompetence, poor choices and attitude disappointment me greatly.

Love Del Cerro. We have kids in kinder, 3rd, 5th. Fantastic teachers in every grade. We couldn't be happier. They've done a terrific job in the pandemic too-- strong leadership and incredible faculty.

We love Del Cerro! We have two kids going there. We have been so impressed by not only the academics but also by their encouragement of social/emotional education as well! The staff is amazing! They know who we are and we are not just a number! We love the personal side that a smaller school like Del Cerro is able to provide to its families. My kids are thriving there and feel at home. We would recommend this school to any family looking around!

This school is amazing. My kids love their teachers and going to this school. The school is in a safe neighborhood and next a beautiful park. Del Cerro doesn’t just teach academics but life lessons our kids will actually use when they become adults. Go Dolphins!

We left a private school program to attend Del Cerro a few years ago, and we have been very pleased with the change. Great dialog with faculty and support members of the school. Tremendous community feeling that we and our children experience. It is a genuine TEAM feeling. My wife and I have participated in classroom activities with both our kids, and we have been very impressed with the atmosphere the students have been provided. We are hoping that Del Cerro will be back to a full-time operation soon, and that other in coming students will have the opportunity to benefit from a strong academic and character building program that Del Cerro provides.

Del Cerro is an amazing school and very important in our community. The staff does a fantastic job at keeping the students educated, positive and happy. The PTA and families are very involved in keeping everyone connected through fun activities and hands on help. We have a 6th grader in the GATE program which is a great opportunity for children and also 3rd and 2nd graders at Del Cerro and they love their school and enjoy going every day. It’s been such a great experience so far! I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a new school.

We moved to Mission Viejo when my daughter started half of her 2nd grade, she is now in 6th grade. We also have a 4th grader who started kindergarten here and she also loves all her teachers. The teachers push you to be better and if they need help their teachers are always ready to help. PTA is also great because families are involved. We love movie night, book fair, Watch D.O.G.S. Jog- a- thon, Christmas boutique, and more!! At school we have Ride the WAVE which stands for We show respect, Act responsibly, Value integrity, Everyone is safe. The students say it every morning after the pledge of allegiance. Great school to go to.

Highly recommend Del Cerro Elementary. We’ve been at this school for the last 8 years and have been very happy with every teacher we’ve had (we have 5 kids). Every school has its unique dynamic but what sets Del Cerro apart is its unity within the staff. The office staff is so kind and friendly, and learn your families names so quickly and genuinely care about you and your kids. The principal and teachers love the students and work well with them and address concerns in professional ways as needed. The families at Del Cerro are all wonderful caring families. We’ve been so happy here and would recommend Del Cerro to everyone.

Del Cerro has been a wonderful school for my children This was our 8th year at Del Cerro. We have one more year before we have to say goodbye and I know it will be happy day but also sad. I believe that the a great school starts with a great principal and at Del Cerro thats what we have. His dedication to the childen and families is apparent , if there is any decision that needs to be made what best for the kids is the first question asked. Thanks for another great year! See you in the fall.....

We have a wonderful and very visible principal. He is present at all school events and as a parent is very approachable . The office team is nice and helpful! So far all the teachers we have had through 3rd grade have been very supportive and kept my child loving to learn and wanting to go to school. There is strong parent involvement which is encouraged by the staff but most importantly the Del Cerro - PTA.
