We have had two children go through this school (with a seven year gap between them). We adore Elm Road!!! One teacher that one of our girls had, didn't overwhelm me with delight, but ALL THE REST have been truly wonderful. It is very evident that the staff really care for their students. Additionally, they support and are responsive to parents/families. This school year is our last year here, and I will miss being a part of the Elm Road community. I will always be thankful for the atmosphere of kindness and grace that we experienced throughout these years.

excellent school - teachers are caring, professional, and good at teaching. Contrary to what some others have said, the principal and other administration bend over backwards to support kids and parents.

This is the second school my child has attended (we moved here from out of state). The teachers that I’m familiar with do a really good job. The principal and other staff members seem very unqualified for the positions they are in. The school atmosphere is very outdated like that haven’t progressed past 1960. They don’t appreciate families and do not support parents taking an involved role at school. The school hardly does anything outside of teaching hours...no programs, plays, family learning nights etc. If they do have functions the PTO charges money for them. Overall we are very disappointed in this school.

I think some of these comments and ratings are now outdated, though much of the staff has been consistent for the last several years. The demographics of the school are quite diverse and I’ve witnessed some pretty insane situations brought on by parents and/or students that should never have to be dealt with by an office staff and is not appropriate in a school environment at all. So to put the blame of behavior issues not being dealt with appropriately, also seems unfair. The office people may get the brunt of the issue(s) that are brought in the door with the people who walk in. I do agree that a smile can go a long way, and you catch more flies with honey....that being said, if one comes in with a poor attitude expecting swift and sunny service, it becomes very taxing on a person to always keep up a positive demeanor.

The school is a good school, the principal is horrible and as I read these other reviews I must agree the old ladies in the office who apparently have been there since I was born ( I did ask!) are rather rude and act like they are so intelligent and everyone else are just bothering them at there very important front desk elementary school $10 a hour job!

Hello I am a parent of 2 children who attended elm road school. I really cared for and enjoyed both of my children's teachers, I thought they were great. However the main office workers were just terribly rude and most of the time I could never get a straight answer from anyone in that office. They were very belittling in every way, every time I would call (which wasn't that often but still). Again the teachers were amazing, it is ashame that they do not equip their office staff with friendlier and more compassionate people.
