Our son just finished kindergarten at Kenwood and have so many wonderful things to say! An all-around lovely community school with a very active PTA, a focus on arts while celebrating diversity and academics. He transferred here midway through the year as we had moved from out of state and transitioned really well, feeling welcomed by his new classmates right away. The before school chess program is great too.

We love Kenwood! I, too, like another reviewer am a little confused by the low GreatSchool rating. We just moved here last year with our kids starting kindergarten and 2nd grade, and feel that they have adjusted exceptionally well. We are both working professionals. The principal, teachers, and staff are extremely communicative and really want each student to succeed. We love the focus on the arts and the residencies. Kenwood also has a very active PTA and many fundraisers throughout the year with the focus on school improvement. There is also good diversity of students from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, but we feel that our kids receive the appropriate amount of attention and help with schoolwork and that Kenwood strives to help the kids who may also need a little more attention. My husband and I both feel that Kenwood provides great opportunity for our kids to meet a variety of other kids in a safe and effective learning environment and we have all been so pleased with our experience so far!

Kenwood is a fantastic neighborhood community school. Not sure why greatschools has it rated so low. Most families that attend Kenwood live in the area, which is why it isn't as diverse as some other Minneapolis schools. I'd still say there's a good mix of students of all backgrounds.

Great school, my daughter came to this school and started in 2nd grade, in 1st grade she struggled and was put on an IEP. By the end of 2nd grade at Kenwood she had mastered all deficiencies and was performing above average in reading. Now she enjoys school and loves her teacher! THANK YOU KENWOOD SCHOOL. EXCELLENT PRINCIPLE AND TEACHING STAFF

My child joined the school last year. Principal and staff are helpful and supportive. Teachers are very competent and they are always ready to address our concerns if we have any.The community is diverse and people come from different backgrounds, which provides a very good learning for the students and the parents.The school encourages parent's participation through several programs and helps us understand the education system. Overall Kenwood Elementary has been a blessing for our family. Thanks for being so great

Kenwood is an incredibly special school with an A+ principal, amazing staff and supportive parents. The arts residencies are spectacular.

Our second year at Kenwood Elementary is coming to an end and I just can't say enough about how happy I am about the education my children are receiving. I feel like the teachers and support staff really understand and care about my children and are able to support children at multiple levels. The teachers really work well together as well with a common goal. The parents are a force at Kenwood. Parent involvement is high and the school needs are supplemented by parents and the wonderful community. I love the diverse population - Kenwood looks like Minneapolis and our children benefit from that.

I love Kenwood because of their outstandig teachers, Arts and Smarts Program and the incredible parent involvement.

Because it is modern and sophisticated in terms of outlook, methodology, and teaching techniques -- yet it still has the feel of a cozy neighborhood school. I love watching kids run up and hug the principal.
