In my personal opinion as a student who goes to Messmer High School, And started going here around my freshman year which was when the pandemic started. The virtual school was more coordinated then the In- person learning and had a better balance at the work that had been assigned to students for my experience. There's overwhelming amounts of work at high expectations assigned in short periods of times that leaves students drained, exhausted, and unmotivated. Furthermore the teachers are okay, It just depends on who you have and if there understanding enough to adapt to what works best for you to learn better as a student but if not your most likely to fail that class. In my experience, the emotional support here is alright but it could always improve the guidance counselors are nice and the overall staff members are neutral at being supportive. They offer lots of courses and chances to earn extra credits and credits you missed if you take the opportunity to take it serious which I find great because it gives students like myself an advantage. However, Messmer is not for everyone. And if you feel like you just want to get through school without high expectation put on you and they're quick to inform your parents of anything you do or something that happens in the school, I would definitely consider another school for you if you can't handle that.

As a student in this school. This place sucks, and I want to transfer. Almost every school in Milwaukee is trash. don't go to any schools here, you will either be overwhelmed or you just won't learn. they have not helped me at all really except for one teacher who did TRY to. then she got moved to their middle school. not to mention the fact that almost no one here wears masks. I wear them, yet a good majority of teachers and students don't. there isn't much personal space, either. if you come here, you are probably at risk of COVID. And the expectations here are very high. overwhelmingly high, really. they pile on overwhelming amounts of information and expect you to quickly adapt to the info. Overall, students here don't seem very excited about what they're learning, The teachers at least try to help to the best of their ability, and The school is absolutely GARBAGE at supporting a student's mental health and well-being, They don't even have special education, its not very safe, from discrimination at least, but at least they have family engagement, huh?

Students are disrespectful to the teachers and too each other. Lots of fights not everyday but a lot and the academics are not challenging students to think hard enough.

I'm a current Senior at Messmer, and I can say it has definitely prepared me for my future. I've been given so man opportunities, met very influential people, and I am confident that college will be an easy transition for me. However, Messmer is not for everyone. If you are not ready to put in work to achieve you goals and if you can't be humbled by your experiences, you may want to consider another school. The teachers and administration become family and they will push you beyond your limits. With Messmer's collegiate standards of teaching and learning, and enforcement of leadership skills, anyone who enrolls and succeeds to graduation will be a force to be reckoned with. Blessings!

Teachers wait until the last minute literally one day before grades are due to the office before updating. My son had a A in a class all quarter, the night before teachers were scheduled to submit grades he received a C. Students are held to high standards but teachers are not. Teachers should have deadlines and requirements as the students do. It seems as though the teachers get pleasure out of failing these students.
