As a former teacher at this school,I would say to all good families out there, run! Unfortunately, the principal( like many in MPS) has neither the skills nor expertise to do their job. They could never manage a classroom. The admin ,for the most part, is insulated and mostly concerned with keeping those 100K+ jobs. Violence, disrespect, and disruption by students and parents ,is met with: What could you as a teacher have done differently? Or, “ The student is Special Ed and has an IEP. We can’t do anything.” No ownership is ever put on the bad parents or students.

The leadership at this school is atrocious and doesn’t address constant bullying and misbehavior by students. There’s also extreme dysfunction and disorganization throughout the building.

The teachers are wonderful but the principal ms. Goodwin she should not be a principal at all . She does not know how to run a school, my daughter in 5th grade was getting bullied by a girl in her class and she did nothing about it but put the blame on my kid and let the mother yell at me and my husband and said she was going to call the cops on us and then it continue to get worse and the girl then started bullying my oldest daughter in 7th grade who is in special education classes and has a little speech problem . My daughter couldn't even focus in school anymore my youngest was scared to go to school when her best friend was not their. It even go to a point were the mother gave my oldest a dirty look and then the mother and daughter were pointing at my oldest. This girl even told my youngest if she sits next to her and she gets a disease and dies shes suing my daughter and told my daughters to watch their back , and again nothing has been done to this girl . This was my kids 2nd year at Manitoba I thought it was a good school but now I had to pull my kids out of school 2 months ahead of time and home school them. I even told the school to give me the mothers name and address so I can give it to the cops but they refused. If I could rate zero stars because of the bullying I would.

They have such a great staff, and take great care of special needs children. My daughter has medical issues that require not only special education teachers, but a nurse in school. Everyone works together to do what needs to be done for them to learn, have fun and be safe. Manitoba is a very special school that takes Pride! In thier students & staff.

There are some fantastic and hardworking teachers at Manitoba. The special education program does a fabulous job supporting and teaching students with orthopedic impairements. Regular education students and special education students learn to work together and learn how to be caring about others, even if they have differences.

My kids, nieces, and nephews have gone to Manitoba since K4 a total of 4 years. I would NOT recommend this school. They are so diorganized, no control, and the worse part is they do nothing about bullying. I recent pulled my children. I loved the teachers but who is running the school and how is a JOKE.

My daughter has been at Manitoba since K4. She's now a fourth grader and doing exceptionally well. I always feel comfortable and welcome in the building. Everyone is very friendly and the teachers are awesome. Manitoba as a fabulous music program! There are opportunities for students to take piano and drum lessons at school. There are a number of great after school activities as well.

My daughter attends Manitoba and is midway through K5. My wife and I are very pleased with the academic program and feel the diversity of the school is a plus. The staff is friendly, and there is a feeling of calm as you enter the building. We think it is one of the best in the city.
