School doesnt moderate whats happens inside and teachers lives are prioritized over learning.

MHS is such an incredible school. You attend with people of all races, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The course offerings are unmatched anywhere in the area. I'm proud to be an MHS grad and was more than prepared for college.

This school has received bad press because it has struggled academically to meet state standards and bring test scores up, Also, discipline has always been a challenge. However, I attribute these problems more to the high percentage of children from low income families, many of whom lack good parenting and face overwhelming challenges at home, rather than to a lack in the teachers or curriculum. Just before my younger son started his senior year, we moved to a different school district and we gave him the option to change to a "better" school system. He chose to stay with Marion High School. His decision had nothing to do with staying with his friends. Rather, in his own words, he felt he had good teachers, better curriculum choices for higher level courses, and more options for dual college credit courses by staying at Marion High.In spite of pressure from out family to put our sons in private school, both of my sons graduated from Marion High and went on to graduate from college with honors and are now very successful in their careers.
