Linn Mar use to be a school of choice with parents moving to the district so their children could attend one of the schools.. The last couple of years, families have been moving away, open enrolling their children in other districts, and homeschooling. The school board has attempted to implement policies that parents feel are not in the best interest of their children. The board is made up of people who are not leaders and who are disrespectful to other board members and to the parents. They have created a divisive environment. A school board can make or break a school system. This one is broken.

As a student of Linn Mar, I often question where the school district is spending their funding. Obviously the pandemic was very rough on all school districts, but I struggle to see why a new administrative building is being constructed while many students 20+ minutes away from the building have to walk in one of the hottest weeks of the year because there aren't enough bus drivers to take them. In addition, both the high school and the nearby Excelsior Middle School often have issues with the A/C, leading to many classrooms being miserable for both students and teachers. The mental health support, while better than Excelsior, really doesn't amount to much. In short, the Linn Mar Highschool isn't a great option as the district executives have done little to show that they actually care about the students. However, there really aren't a lot of options for schools in this area, and Linn Mar is probably the best choice if Marion schools are your only option.

This is not a community school, and learning is no longer a priority at Linn Mar. It is so sad to see how quickly this school cares more about politics then each individual kids success. When teachers physically fight in the hallway while kids stand by and watch, sexual interactions can occur in both girls and boys bathrooms (Before the new school changes) and kids barking at other kids because they are now considered a Fury even though it makes other kids uncomfortable. Watch what happens to their enrollment after next year when other kids can open enroll at other schools.

I went to Linn-Mar and my children go to there as well. My oldest a senior this year. Our experience with Linn-Mar is nothing but positive. The teachers respond to me, and if my kids need to talk to them they are always there to listen. The school is large, and it's continuing to grow. I liked it there when I went, and my kids like it.

I love this school district. Much of the negative I hear about this school is focused on the school district being a wealthy district. I am not sure why that angers people. I recently heard a parent of a nearby school district complain about how LM wastes money. The school district his children attend spends more per child then LM. I don’t believe giving the students a nice environment is wasteful. In fact, I would argue that being given nice spaces encourages learning. I think all students should have nice learning environments.

Any chance you can get to not send your kids to linnmar, take it. I am truly surprised on how much credit this school gets considering how terrible it is. They care more about appearance than actual education. Books are falling apart, classrooms are crowded, yet they spend millions on a fancy entrance...crazy. They’ve asked for more funding but how can we trust them to spend it on what the students actually need? Also don’t plan on your kids succeeding in activities unless you have money and your children are willing to deal with the extreme competition that comes with them. They 100% favor certain students over others and it is ridiculous. If you want the school to support you as they should then join a sport or music. otherwise don’t expect much. They won’t help at all with homeschool and will definitely treat you poorly if you are dual enrolled or decide to attend the highschool after doing linnmar homeschooling. The staff is extremely disrespectful and never in a million years will I EVER step foot into linnmar highschool again or support it. Disgusting

The student body at Linn Mar includes a lot of middle/upper class kids who are good students. Linn Mar teachers don't really care about (seem annoyed by) the kids who struggle in school. The low (2 out of 10) rating by Great Schools related to equity is well deserved.
