Leadership matters. I’ve taught at this school for a while, and for the first time, the work environment is positive and non-toxic. For the first time, admin has started to value our time to help us prep to be the best teachers we can be for our precious students. For the first time, students with challenging behaviors have been supported, and it finally feels we are getting the help we needed as opposed to teachers being blamed and shamed. It’s been a journey, but I’m glad I toughed it out. As long as Dr. Patterson is leading the helm, I’m staying on board.

This school does a great job of addressing student needs and making sure they grow. Teaching is hard in "normal" environments but the staff and leadership there have found ways to be successful in an environment that is new and challenging to everyone. MCS and Lockheed are both doing a great job overall as they continue to meet the goals of students while making sure staff feel appreciated for their efforts.

The teachers are amazing. Administration is horrible. So many teachers have left over the current leadership. Extremely toxic work environment due to the vindictive nature of the leader. After three years of HR complaints it’s shocking district level administration have kept her. One of the most hateful people I’ve ever worked with. Can’t wait to get out of Dodge!

I am a teacher and a parent at Lockheed Elementary, and I am proud to be a part of this community. Administration has high expectations for their staff and students. They are supportive and encouraging. They have given me grace and have grown me into a much stronger teacher. It is hard to work at this school, but it is worth it. You cannot come teach here if you don't want to put in the work. I'm sure that is the case for the previous poster, but he/she is not the norm of this school. Administration and staff advocate for the students and support them to reach their full potential. This is not an easy job as we are often overlooked in favor of the more affluent schools. I am proud to work for Lockheed. I don't live in the district and proudly send my child here.

Lockheed has been a blessing to me and my children. The teacher's are actively involved in my children's education. One of my children is special needs and the accommodations and support she has received is unbelievable. We have the sweetest principal she is always approachable and willing to help. The have an active PTA and strong parent involvement.

My son loves his new school. We have had some behavioral challenges and the assistant principal has been helpful. He has made a friend with Mrs. Moore and Mr. Mann. I could not have done it without their support.

When I first found out we were in the Lockheed District, like any other parent, I started doing research. I'm not going to lie, I was alarmed at the low rating; but it was to late in the year to choose another school. That said, I've been more than pleasantly surprised with Lockheed. The faculty and staff are great, with a unique mix of old school experience and new school teaching methods. I will like my son has been properly challenged; neither held back or had to much thrown his way. It amazes me how many hugs and "hellos" both he AND I get; and 5 years later, I'm truly happy my child is here. We actually chose to stay at Lockheed in 4th grade over MCAA.

This is truly a wonderful school. The teachers and faculty are top-notch and really care about the kids. The school has about 800 kids and it has a small school community feel. They have a lot of Teachers that have been at the school for many years and go way "above and beyond" for the students and the school. And lots of Parapros to help with the kindergarten classes. There are a lot of fun activities planned by the PTA each month, a lot of friendly parents, and diversity. Did I mention they have an adorable library? You'll LOVE Lockheed!

I have a kindergartener and second grader at Lockheed. We have had great teachers and the kids feel very comfortable with the teachers and the administration. The school has a warm and comfortable feel to it and feels like a real community. Facilities are very well cared for and the custodians are all ways smiling, especially Iris. Parents are very active in the school and there's no cliques. There are always extra parents helping and lots of opportunities to participate in the class, on field trips and for special school-wide events.

We are new to Georgia and we were told that MCS had the best elementary schools. My daughter is in second grade and her teacher Ms. Gigis is the best. Back home the teachers were not as attentive and available to parents. They have a dope PTA and the sweetest Principal. I love Lockheed and recommend it to parents looking for a great school.

My daughter is in kindergarten at Lockheed ES, and I'm pleased with the education she's received so far. The only issue of concern is that everyone is so dedicated to teaching other students ESOL that they have forgotten to teach Spanish as a second language. I'd like my daughter to be bilingual or trilingual too. The school is beautiful inside and out. The students are very respectful because they know that the Lockheed Jets expect respect! The faculty and staff are excellent.
