My son has been in the SPK class for three years. year 1 was cool because his teacher was experienced and attentive to all of her students. the second year he was assign a new teacher who was teaching for the very first time, so we gave a LOT of grace. going into year two, there has been too many para teachers. Random "float" teachers who would have been handling my son in the bathroom and sent home a huge fist sized poop in my son's bag when he had an accident. any time I ask a basic question its typically met with an "idk it wasn't me" or "you should ask someone else I'm not sure". The icing on the cake was the parking protocol was functional in the first two years. in year three, the assistant principle who is tall and a male, approached my car with my son in it demanding I move my car because the parking system has changed. Even though there wasn't an email or message on the ck12 app. this new system involved only the SPK car riders to park in a traffic lane and literally walk across the parking lot of bus/ vans and other cars. I calmly expressed that it was dangerous, and my son gets excited for school and can run to his teacher as soon as we get out the car and his response was "hold his hand then". then he sent the campus police to me threating to "write me a ticket" for not parking in a traffic lane and away from vehicles. the cop approached me with his hand on his gun as if we weren't at a school but instead like I'm a criminal. the principal Ms. Alford and she seemed understanding to the issue and agreed the new drop off/ pick up policy wasn't the safest. she then the very next day of this talk tell my fiancé and myself that they have launched an "investigation" because I "drive wreck less" around children in their parking lot of no visual reminders of the flow of traffic and at the time no traffic enforced personnel. after the clear discrimination and segregation of my special needs son, i used the main lot to walk him to and from school for about 1.5 months. during our monthly meeting with his teacher, another AP expressed to us that we were allowed to join the NEW and safer policy for drop off and pick up with no evidence discovering that i was in fact not recklessly driving. as we joined the line, it was VERBATIM where i would park to drop and pick him up. to this day they cannot look me in my face or respond to an email. needless to say, we will never see Brumby after this school year.

I've had my 3 kids in this school since 2016 and have had a great experience. They've made great friendships, received a great education and we've loved the teachers. The staff are very helpful and make it a great place to learn and grow.

The teachers and principal have been working hard to increase engagement with families. My three children have all been excited about their learning, and have really enjoyed the enrichment opportunities that Brumby offers both inside and outside the classrooms. We have loved each of their teachers and they have made really good friends here.

All the teachers at Brumby are clearly dedicated and love their jobs and the kids they work with. Mr. Branche, Mrs. Clark, Coach Cosgrove, Mrs. Bloodworth to name just a few have made my daughter feel welcomed and like she belongs. My daughter goes to school every day excited to learn, be with her classmates and feel the encouragement of her teachers!Under the news leadership, Principal Alford, there is a vibrancy, passion and energy that is so refreshing and gives me hope for the future of all that attend Brumby. Finally, the community is so supportive! The diversity at this school is wonderful to experience and gives my daughter a very unique experience that will help her learn how to engage with people from any different cultures in the world.

The verdict is still out on this school as we approach year two. Our first year experience was great, excellent primary teacher but still wanting more communication between the gifted/talent development teacher to parent. I would love to see opportunities for students who display advanced skills, no wonder the scores are so low. There doesn't seem like much is in place, additionally, to develop students - which I would think that is a direct affect to better scoring. Not sure if it's a lack of funding/resources, but Brumby needs more academic, sports and social extracurricular activities. Thank God for our outside social capital otherwise the offerings at the school seem very limited. No Homework - Good and Bad, but more bad as the parent's cannot stay connected with the student. We have to create our own homework to keep our daughter engaged with level expectations.

Although I appreciate the environment during Covid, there is definitely room for improvement. The staff are amazing they need the school board support for more programs geared toward the whole student. The school lacks the extracurricular structure that is needed in elementary school students. I would love for my child to continue here but this is the third year and if 3rd grade does not become a better learning environment then I will remove my child and transfer to a school I feel they can thrive in.

My oldest son had the pleasure of studying at Brumby, kindergarten through fifth grade. Amazing staff, teachers who know how to deal with children with ADHD, principal Dr. Richie always willing to help. Now it has an even better structure.

My daughter had a very hard time fitting in in kindergarten due to some bullying during recess and on the school bus. I contacted the school more than once to have it resolved to no avail. When I spoke to Mr D about it, it was remedied immediately. He also did a few follow up calls with my husband and me afterward. I am thankfuk for him and happy about that. When my daughter moved onto 1st grade, we were met with the best teacher in the world, Mrs. Lantrip. She is very motivating, challenging and interactive. My daughter flourished academically in her class and we could not have asked for a better teacher. We have since moved out of state and I still keep in contact with Mrs. Lantrip. I light-heartedly tease her saying that if we ever won the lotto, I am hiring her as my daughter's personal teacher. That is how fantastic she is! So, if your child is entering 1st grade, pray that they end up in Mrs. Lantrip's classroom. You will truly see a difference in your child and attitude towards school.

My son attended Kindergarten and 1st grade at Brumby. He had excellent teachers even though the school has low rating. I would like to mention about 1st grade teacher Mrs. Lantrip. She is an excellent teacher. She sends an email every weekend about what the kids learnt during the week. She is very focused and pays attention to each and every kid. The kids love her.

I've my child enrolled in KG at this school and he is doing wonderful. He is always happy and cheerful while going and equally charismatic while return from school. I think he has got good teacher Ms Vandall and I see that she is taking good care of all her kindergartners.

My son looooooved this school. The teachers were friendly and amazing. The principal is suberb. She is amazing! The staff was exceptional. The parents were friendly and helpful and all of the kids seemed to get along! The academics were average to above average. My child was challenged, however, he is smart and could've handled more. Parking and getting into the school is a nightmare though. I wish they could start a little later than 7:30am and have easier access for carpool.

Greatly improved! Looking forward to the new building, new location, and state of the art technology. Parental involvement here is outstanding.

This past year I had a 5th grade and a 1st grader attending Brumby Elementary. I was so glad when the end of the year reached. My 5th grade child would have been left behind with no help or awareness. I was constantly at the school. He suffers with ADHD without behavior problems just staying focus. Be sure to stay Proactive everyday until the last day of school. My 1st grader experience was great excellent teacher very caring, extremely resourceful to helping meeting my child's needs. I would highly recommend Mrs. Lantrip she is awesome! !!! I would pay very close attention to 5th grade especially if you have a boy.

My experience with Brumby has been great. This is my child's second year, started with kindergarten. Both years she has had great caring teachers. When I have left a message, I have always received a call back. I haven't had any complaints and I make sure to be involved with her class and available. Both of her teachers have communicated well and I look forward to another year. It may not be rated the top school in Cobb, but its not the worst.
