The Madison mayor and city council have destroyed what was a fantastic school system by allowing unchecked new residential building and all they've done is stick it to homeowners by raising taxes. Over 1200 new students enrolled this year and it's been like this the past 6 years. Schools are so overcrowded, my daughters waiting 45 minutes for a bus to arrive, one way traffic in the school halls, no lockers (50+lb backpacks), etc. Teachers used to be so enthusiastic, no they're just overwhelmed. Such a shame.

The kids are not allowed to attend school anymore. Many are falling behind and failing out of the advanced classes. The superintendent has no education plan in place to bring the kids update on the education deficiencies. When they have attended school only for two weeks this year, they do not stay in the class for the full time but leave early for masks breaks. This superintendent just started and has put the district in fast downhill slide. Do not send your kids to school in this district. They will not be educated but, you will have a lot of fees to pay for nothing.

Doesn't give them too much home work but also gives a little.The teachers are very kind and compassionate towards students. They have many clubs and leadership roles for students. It disciplines when wrong is done but congratulates the good. t gives tutoring retakes and different text formats for different students. It definitely punishes bulling and does not tolerate it. Overall I loved my experience at this school.

Cramped halls result in students getting hurt and very strict dress code limits everything your child can do.

This is our second year at Liberty and we enjoy the school. Our daughter was able to select from a variety of electives to include a financial management course as a 7th grader. As a parent I like the fact that they are very organized and the communication from the school to the parents is on going. In 2016 Liberty was selected as one of 25 schools in the country who received the 2016 designation as a Model School for their innovative learning programs. Liberty typically ranks in the top 10 for the best Public Middle Schools in the state of Alabama. Our shy introverted daughter is coming out of her shell based on all the activities available to her at school which afforded her the opportunity to try different things outside of her comfort zone amongst her peers. I am so grateful we had the opportunity to be a part of the Lion's Den!

They say they are preparing the students for college but many of the faculty just enjoy messing with kids, making sure they feel less than other students and that they know their place. 7th & 8th graders don't need to prep for college, they need to get through middle school without emotional damage caused by adults. If a parent tries to stop the bullying, the teachers get vicious and team up again the student. Administration is clueless and will side with teachers in every circumstance, no matter how blatantly wrong the teacher's behavior has been.

Liberty has an excellent middle school model!! Students come first and best practices guide instruction! I would recommend this school to others moving to the area.

Good teachers, except for a few bad ones. If you attend this school, you'll figure it out soon enough. The courses and electives are chosen randomly, so you or your kids most likely not get the course they wanted, as I have gotten. They have a very strict dress code, you can't even have dyed hair. The school work is very stressful, and if you get work, you may have about 1-2 nights to complete the work that was mentioned. For example: (Hi kids! You have a project that you MUST decorate and label a poster using MLA format with your sources.) And you have brief mentions of what you are really supposed to do! As I asked a couple of my fellow students, they also said that the school work is very stressful also. Middle school starts at 8:00 A.M. Elementary School starts even earlier. You barely have enough time to get a full night's rest. As I often find myself tired every morning when I get up to get ready for school. I hope if you are new to Madison, you will read my review and consider putting your child into the system. I would recommend homeschooling or a private school. We are hugely pleased with LMS. The 8th grade teachers each take a personal interest, the leadership is right on and involved, and my daughter enjoys going to school. Thank you, Liberty, for all you do to help our children learn and get ready for high school.
