This school is nothing like what it seems. I graduated a few years ago, and when I did it was liberating to finally be away from the toxic environment. From the outside, you see the beautiful campus, tons of awards, and friendly and honest staff. However, what it's actually like is a whole lot different. There is bullying, (both in school and on the internet) and physical fights. Kids are EXTREMELY cliquey and don't hesitate to harass anyone who is different from them. There is SO much cursing, intimidation, and abuse. During my years at MDS, I was humiliated, screamed at, ostracized, and at one point I answered a question in class and another student FELL ONTO THE FLOOR AND ROLLED AROUND as they were laughing hysterically at me. The teacher did nothing, they simply carried on with class. The dress code is absolutely ridiculous. Boys get reported and sent to the office if they forget to tuck in their shirt, but girls are allowed to wear skits that expose their entire rear ends when they bend over. The 'fingertip rule' that is stated clearly in the handbook is NOT enforced. The school is based on Catholicism and we had Mass at least 2 times a month, yet the students were the meanest I'd ever encountered. They obviously didn't take the Bible's teachings to heart. The teachers are honestly hit or miss. Some of the teachers I had were great, but others were rude and just passed out worksheets for us to do every period. Overall, I would NOT recommend MDS.
