As a teacher at this school for almost 8 years now I've seen a lot of positive changes. I've seen our ESE population grow at enormous rates due to school choice. The support needed for this area is determined by the District NOT the administration. The teachers at this school work MANY hours after our school day is done and consistently work on the weekends unpaid. Our heart is there for our students and helping them reach their goals. We are now a K-8 school which will prove to be a positive in many ways. Although there are a few negative comments on this site regarding our office staff and administration...those comments are far from the truth and one must place yourself in their shoes. Not all experiences with a school will be the same however there is a need for communication and a need to place yourself in that person's shoes for a day or even a week. I'm also a parent and can see things from both sides...I always teach my students how I would want my children to be taught. A school can only do so much when it comes to more support and retention of a student. Our hands are literally tied with regards to holding a child back in a grade level. There is SO much more involved and ultimately it is the District who will make the final decision. As far as parent involvement....a school has NO control over that. As teachers we BEG for more parent involvement but it falls on deaf ears most of the time. So when choosing a school...don't just look at the negative comments. Look at the school, visit it, speak to the teachers, speak to your community and look at the data...this will tell you how good a school truly is.

Unprofessional administration, rude office staff, class size way too big, little parent involvement. The list of problems at this school goes on and on.

Maniscalco is a great school and has been an "A" school for the last several years but received it's first "B" just last year. I am a teacher who lives in a nearby county and both my own children attend this school with me. If it wasn't a good school, believe me, I would not have my own children attend. This school has a supportive administration, effective teachers, and great families, not to mention low class sizes, Fall and Spring Festivals, enriching field trips, an active PTA, a fun music program, including before school clubs for handbells, drums, and afternoon chorus practices! This school has an enriching curriculum for all types of learners and students and provides support services, as well! Come see for yourself! Maniscalco has an open door policy where visitors are always welcome! =)

My oldest son is in first grade at Maniscalco. We have had an excellent experience. His teachers have been fun, motivating and provide a great line of communication for school/home. He loves going to school and as a volunteer I can say it's a great supportive learning environment. I feel good about sending my younger children in years to come.

My sons attended this school and performed very well academically however this was primarily due to their own high abitilty along with parental support. There are serious concerns about inadequate administration, effective teachers leaving the school and the School District ignoring concerns. It is known that many others have left the school including secretaries, guidance counselor, music teachers and media specialist. The PTA Presidents from 2010 -11 and 2009 -10 both removed their children from the school. In addition, the school lost 2 units this school year and 2 units last year and if this trend continues another 2 or more units will be lost again next school year. Speculation has been made concerning the new Lutz Prep Charter School opening and Maniscalco students tranferring there. Fact is, if parents were pleased with Maniscalco, they would not be leaving the school. More parents need to be vocal if any changes will ever be made with administration. Speak up for your children and demand to be heard!

Maniscalco is not what it used to be. I have two children who went there K-5. The best teachers are leaving because of administration. Parent comunication used to be great, but has dwindled. The complaints to the school district are being ignored.

I have 2 children that attend Maniscalco Elementary and I have been very happy. The teachers are great and my children are thriving. I would recommend this school to anyone. It is a shame that a few angry parents have tried to tarnish this school's reputation.
