I was a Roscoe Wilson Wrangler and I am happy to say that if your child goes to Roscoe they will be really successful. When I was a Wrangler I was there PreK to 4th grade I really enjoyed my classes and the teachers are super friendly and supportive. I would always and forever recommend this amazing school.

My son went to this school for five years, from preK through third grade. In the first couple of years, he was in special education due to speech delay. I must say that dealing with the principal was very unpleasant. I remember one time I went to a school party where the parents needed badges, and found my son was screaming and screaming in the principal’s office. He had been sent there because he didn’t finish an assignment, and he had gone hysterical because he wouldn’t be allowed to go to the school party. Once I got my visitor sticker, which took a long time waiting in line, I went in there and helped him finish the work. It took two minutes. I can’t believe the principal just left him there screaming all alone. There were many other minor incidents that struck me as uncaring on the part of the teachers and the staff. I am not from Texas so perhaps these sorts of things seems strange only to me. One teacher kept repeating to my son that he “must obey.” I was confused — was that teaching or obedience training? Another teacher did not send him to the nurse after he got kicked in the hand during recess. He cried all day and complained of pain. When I picked him up, the hand was all swollen, and we went directly to the doctor’s office. Luckily, nothing was broken, but his hand got bandaged for a couple of days. Two teachers at this school made grammatical and spelling errors in emails or homework assignments/feedback. The breaking point for me was the spring semester of COVID, when I saw that many of the assignments during “virtual” school were of surprisingly low quality. Math homework contained errors. Word problems were ambiguously worded and could be interpreted in more than one way. After that experience, I signed up my son for an online private school in a West Coast state. He is much happier now. This school seems to have much better lessons, assignments, and overall curriculum. I am glad I will never again have to talk to the principal of Roscoe Wilson.

The principal is awful and hateful to special needs children. Inexperienced staff are inadequate when dealing with special needs children.

Excellent school- 4 of our kids will eventually attend there. Great teachers, IB program and strong emphasis on Art, Music, PE, Drama and Spanish. Suzuki violin is also offered there.

We love this school! Can't say enough about it. Outstanding principal, engaged teachers, and involved parents. Great thing is you don't have to live in the neighborhood to attend! It is a magnet school, and you can transfer from anywhere.. even frenship. This elementary offers way more than just teaching to the test like many do now. Everyone there has a main goal in mind to foster an environment of life long learners. Spanish is a part of the curriculum as well!

Out of the whole city of Lubbock, I picked this school for my child. I went to this school as well and have nothing but good memories. May affulent people in the community (councilmen, doctors, professors etc.) have their children here as well. The teachers and staff are awesome and really challenge the students. The PTA is very involved with the school and does many exciting things through the year.

My twins have been at Roscoe Wilson for 3 years now and are so happy. They feel challenged and respected by the teachers. This school also has an amazing counselor who has helped us tremendously. The PTA is very active and supportive. Many affluent people from all over Lubbock bring their children to this Academic Magnet school, including many professors from the University located 6 blocks away.
