Both of our boys attended, thrived and graduated from Cathedral (2013 & 2016). Both played varsity sports (Swimming & Water Polo). Both were accepted to top universities. Both graduated from Top Universities. Now...both are well into their respective careers. Cathedral provided a base of brotherhood, education and community. They were taught how to balance studies, extracurricular activities and their social lives. Reading some of these reviews it appears that either the parents were not involved in their son's education or they did not take advantage of the opportunities available to both students and parents. We were heavily involved in the community of Cathedral. We were at every swim meet, honors ceremony and charity events. When we felt we had an issue, we spoke to the administration and swift action was taken. Cathedral has something for everyone. It is up to the parents and the students to accept and receive the value of these opportunities. On a detailed note I will say that they offer AP classes, a variety of sports, student government and LaSallian Youth, which is an incredible opportunity to humble our young men and give back to those in need. They also run their own TV station and have an incredible theater program. It's truly an amazing school....Signed, a proud Cathedral parent

My son transfered in from La Salle in pasadena. He was harrassed the first day he stepped on campus from a group of boys from 18th street gang trying to extort money from him. He feels lucky his second year was cut short due to covid

Race based profanity directed at Black students is common place. Our son and several of his friends were the object of such a verbal assault which to this day the administration still fails to acknowledge. The facilities are mediocre and the school is close to homeless encampments. Better not to pay $10,000 a year for a bad experience that you can just as easily have at a low end public school for free.

If I could give no stars i would. Your child will learn to swear and cuss. If gender/race slurs offend you, there is a whole new world of hurtful here. My Catholic hopes were dashed to the ground by acceptable behaviors. If you're looking for peace, keep looking.

I’m a parent and my son is in his Freshman year here at Cathedral High School. He is very happy here and we have been happy with our experience so far. They challenge his academically and there are a lot of activities for him to participate in. The school seems to really be growing and the most impressive part is that 100% of their seniors last year went on to a 4 year university or college. I don’t think too many high schools can claim that!

I am currently a sophomore here at cathedral high school and for the first year i have been here I have accomplished so many things that I would have never done at a public school. The teachers have taken good care of me when I am going through rough times and overall, it is an amazing college prep to attend. The school has an amazing college readiness program and I absolutely love it here. The only thing i would change here at cathedral is the football program. We really need to stop recruiting. these kids are ridiculous.

I'm a student at CHS and let me start of by saying that this school is completely over rated. The teachers spoon feed students, athletes get all the special treatment, and there is no discipline. Most of the seniors graduate with no diploma and most of the teachers barley seem to care. If you're planning to come to CHS you might as well just go to a public school. The only perks of this school are the academy (which actually prepares you for college), sports, extracurricular activities, and maybe a few faculty members (Mr.Walsh). Overall this school is undeserving of its 'high' reputation.
