My kids have been attending this school since 2018 and it has gone from bad to flat out horrible. While the front office staff is AMAZING, the rest is just bad. The principle is arrogant, full of attitude and does NOT care about the students at all. I have tried to reach out to him on multiple occasions regarding different issues from bullying to issues with my kids teachers to safety concerns and he will not return calls or emails. I had a student threaten to kill my son and he never responded. I find this completely unacceptable. Instead, a counselor responded and said "oh yeah, we know all about him and his family, he's harmless. Just ignore him" That is NOT an acceptable response when a child tells another child that he is going to "bring a gun to school and shoot him up." This same student also told my kid "my whole family is in a gang and we will do a drive by on you and your family". Since this happened off campus, I was told that there is nothing that they can do. 2 of my kids teachers this year barely speak English (don't come for me, I'm an immigrant myself and English was not my first language), and when multiple students in my oldest kids class have asked the teacher to slow down and repeat herself because they are having a hard time understanding her, instead of doing so, she calls them racist instead. If multiple students are having a hard time understanding the lesson, and asking you to repeat yourself, maybe she should try to listen to them instead of automatically calling them racist. If you care about your kids education and safety, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE.

They have a new principal who couldn't care less about the kids learning. He is arrogant and refuses to take parents' calls and blames them for everything. It was never a good school, but has gone even further downhill. Principal refuses to answer questions and teachers are a mixed bag, but mostly not very good. Kid spent all year doing nothing but worksheets. They will not even tell you if there is a change in teacher. Horrific place.

Having my child attend this school was the worst decision ever. He went from a child with minor behavioral issues- to suddenly developing bad language, bad habits and bad behavior. Teacher to student ratio is roughly 1:24. If your child/children are younger just know they’re not going to get much attention. The educational bar is also set very low. I can honestly say my child hasn’t learned anything from this school. He learns more from Amazons Alexa. Teachers don’t treat children badly- but most lack the ability to lead a controlled environment. H

The two most recent reviews have to be completely fake. From all the reviews I have seen and my own experience. Trust your gut and avoid this school at all costs. Your child’s intelligence will literally decline if you send them here.

We’re loving kindergarten so far! My daughter's teacher already sent her home with homework, and she’s learning new things every day. I love the enhancing vocabulary words that most wouldn’t get until a more significant grade, but I’m not complaining! The curriculum is built out, so I know what my kid is doing and needs to do. So far, it’s good! My daughter loves it!

Very bad. They never complete the syllabus and for every test, they give that chapter and they tell the students just leave it but in the reports, we will be seeing 2 showing that your kid didn't study well. We tried to refer my kids for AAP but Teachers will never help in any way.

The principal is terrible. No response on important matters, always passes the calls to an assistant who’s no good to speakwith because all they’ll say is “I’ll have to ask Ms. Jackson”! Doesn’t care about the welfare of the child. -my opinion/personal experience!

I am thrilled with most teachers I have encountered at Lorton Station. We have been blessed with awesome, capable teachers, who care about the children they teach. I am rating this 5 stars based on the teachers.I wish the administration cared as much. It is difficult to get a response from the Principal, even on a positive matter. It's hard to believe some were selected as leaders.

They do nothing about bullying at this school and if your child tries to defend themselves against a trouble student then they get in trouble.

Our kids have been at this school for almost 3 years now. The teachers have been wonderful with our kids! As a parent, I feel that the teachers do well at meeting the individual needs of the kids. They also communicate well with me on their progress. My kids seem to enjoy going to school each day and feel safe in the classroom.

We are wrapping up our Kindergarten year at LSES, and I have been very impressed with the staff. My daughter has had fun, felt safe, and learned a lot! The school is large and has a diverse group of staff and students, which (as with anywhere) could pose challenges for some adults and/or students. However, the school also has an impressive curriculum that includes many extra things - for example, dedicated teachers/classrooms for art/music, and full time assistants in each Kindergarten class (I never had that in elem. school!). I have made an effort to volunteer in both my daughter's classroom and with a few school-level activities. I have enjoyed helping and have been made to feel useful and appreciated. I have established great one-on-one communication with my daughter's teacher, which has made me even more comfortable with, and confident in, the hands that care for my child every day. The staff works hard and seems to care about each and every student. After our first year of elementary school, I have a daughter who loves to learn, is enthusiastic about school, and is eager for first grade. Success!!

My daughter has been at LSES for almost 4 years now. She's had great teachers. I do not like the school from a parent participant perspective. It's the same parents that volunteer and thus not as many activities as other schools in the area since the volunteer pool is small. It is also a very diverse school. I've loved seeing my daughter just not care who she's friends with from the perspective of what they look like.

I was in this school k-6. I would like to say that the front office staff are terribly rude. They would have this attitude that anyone would hate. I once needed help for something, and they would start laughing at me. I felt embarrassed. I Remember when I was in k-3, the front office staff would have this passionate smile and greet me well. Compare to 4-6. And the teachers are also very rude too. My sister's teacher is so rude to her. And very disorganized. But there were few teachers that I loved and the others are plain rude. The kids are just horrible. I remember when I was in 6th grade we had are daily month Fire drill and it got stuck and we had to wait outside for 1 hour in a hot, summer day. I'm in middle school now and I feel happy where I am now. But any parent who suggest going to this school should problaby think again if they want to go to a school that will make their children feel safe.

Lots of negative reviews that I don't agree with are posted here. I wonder if those negative reviewers are PTA members? Do they volunteer at the school regularly? Or at all? What are YOU doing to help make your child's school even better? AAP parents, are you helping out at the book fair, the fun run, and other events to support or dare I say "thank" this school for challenging/ extending/enhancing your child's education?be the change you want to see in the world.

Worst school I've ever seen.. Such a poor leadership and teaching/coaching strategies. There are no opportunities in the school for the children to learn respect and good discipline. Everything is so punitive.. So much favoritism - especially when the parent volunteers in the same classroom where their children are, those children get a special treatment. I have tried at least two years to get access to blackboard - pleading them to set up our access. Todate, they have not done anything about it. Follow-through is absolutely missing. Like many other parents had stated, if it is not for AAP we WILL NOT send our daughter to this school ever. One of the neighborhood schools in our area offers so much technological support and opportunities for their children to excel. One example is membership to ixl math - they push the children to exceed the standards. This school completely lacks this standard. It is true that many teachers are rude to the children. I hope these feedback are taken seriously by the school leadership and actions are taken to improve things.

By far this is the worst school ever! The teachers are rude and very young dressed like there going to the club! When ur wearing pants so tight u can see there underwear is not a good look at all! The teachers are very mean to the kids say very rude remarks to the children. I've had so many problems with this school it's way to much to write! All I can say is do not send ur children here!

I went to this school 3-6 grade becuase I was placed in the AAP program, and let me just tell you it was terrible. The lunch food was terrible the teacher were rude mean and very unhelpful. I have moved onto middle school now and am relived that I am out of that school. For some reson the general ed and AAP sort of had an un spoken rivraly, they were rude and mean to us. Some of my younger friends that still go to Lorton Station have told me that it was still like that. I would not reccomend sending your child here if you have a choice. A lot of the AAP teachers are mean unorgannized and just aren't good teachers. Bullying does happen at this school, and innopropiate behavior. When I attended this school someone tried to set the bathroom on fire and on numerous occasions people would pull the fire alarm and we would have to wait outside for an hour for the firemen to come and check to see if there was actually a fire. I came from newington forest, which is a wonderful school and I would reccomend this over lorton station anyday, even though they do not offer full AAP classes.
